@MDJD2@MeachamDr@quadcarl It is not fair to besmirch all Caribbean schools. The University of the West Indies, for example, has standards as high as those in the finest schools in the UK with tests and scores validated by professors from Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, London and Manchester.
@totalimmunity@CinShiba@Sassafrass_84 So you want police officers, embassy staff, military officers, and public school teachers to be forced to quit after 10 or 12 years? I think you means elected (and perhaps appointed) officials, not rank-and-file workers or others in civil/military service.
@Sassafrass_84 If you are going to do term limits, shouldn’t the year limits be the same? It means that anyone in the Senate can only serve one term while those in the House can serve 6 terms. What is the valid argument for so many more years in the House?
@Deres22155571@DemocraticWins My theory is nominate him to get the sacrificial lamb, then put someone who will get confirmed. Also if I were Trump, I would have wanted Gaetz out of Congress. This accomplishes both goals in one fell swoop and if he is confined, he will owe Trump big time.
@pemonade @mtnmamamd @therabbithole The population WAS exploding for a period of time called the demographic transition from poor to middle class/rich. People just kept forgetting that this was a transition phase during which child mortality declined and people lived longer.
@mtnmamamd @therabbithole This all changed when we started including 2 incomes in deciding mortgages. If we only consider 1 income, mortgages can’t be as large. The available mortgage size dictates how much people can (and will) spend on housing.
@GuleidAmina@Yassin82368369@therabbithole@fightwithmemes Mean is best when looking at overall trends to forecast future population levels. Median is best when thinking about individual families. Mode is best when considering tax policies.
@therabbithole If we exceed 2.1 births per woman, the population of the world will continue to grow (the 0.1 excess over 2 accounts for children who never procreate). Before the 1950s, child mortality was much worse than it is today, so some decline in births/woman is ok but not much below 2.
@trumprealparody This is old news. Hawley said it back in June. I guess the parody aspect (since this is from a parody account) is calling it “breaking”?

@elonmusk We could even cut other departments down such as Homeland Security and still make everyone safer, while preserving privacy rights. Homeland Security really needs to be predominantly a state and local government function, not a national one.

@elonmusk Some federal departments that could be turned over to the states with the Feds just acting to coordinate cooperation and provide minimum standards and support where necessary:
Interior
Agriculture
Commerce
Labor
Education
HHS
HUD
Veterans Affairs
Transportation
@elonmusk Some federal government agencies that could be privatized:
U.S. Postal Service
National Public Radio
Corporation for Public Broadcasting
C-Span
Amtrak
Voice of America
Federal government housing such as military barracks

@vanhanenist@Narseldain@LinkofSunshine Students do not spend enough time in classes to be indoctrinated but they do spend enough time with their peers who are already left-wing by the time they get to college.
@Narseldain@LinkofSunshine No. What this sctually reflects are the type of people who would go to college anyway. No one is really molded in college courses. They are molded in high school courses and by their peers, not their professors.
@EdWhelanEPPC If Trump keeps appointing Republicans from the House to his cabinet posts, he may not be able to do recess appointments because it could flip the House and then House Democrats would then gain a veto over adjournment.
@kylerider520@DemocraticWins 1) They aren’t. Republicans still have a lead in called House races and still more likely to take the House.
2) It is called “ticket splitting.” Most Americans do not vote party-line and there are more unaffiliated (independent) voters than Republicans or Democrats.
@GoodTroubleGran@marceelias It is now down to half that number and it will be cut even more because there are still millions of votes left to count.

@CalltoActivism Nice try but his father was born to documented immigrants who were naturalized citizens as was his Scottish-born mother. Also, to be clear, Native Americans did not acquire birthright citizenship until 1924.

@stopvaccinating @CerebrosDreams Try 10.5 million (and dropping) at this point. Currently vote totals are 70.3 million for Harris and 74.2 million for Trump. They are STILL counting the votes. States should embargo vote totals until ALL votes are counted to stop this nonsense.
