I am really excited that we are hosting a conference for clinicians about hormones and health in London.
There are going to be presentations about mental health and hormones, PMDD and PMS, cardiovascular disease and hormones, testosterone, menopause after breast cancer, hormones and skin as well as the roles of hormones and longevity.
The speakers are all experienced clinicians and researchers who have a passion for improving health of women in a holistic way.
One of our @newson.health doctors is also going to be talking about breathing and how important breathwork is for future health.
We have clinicians from US, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Singapore and South Africa coming for this event as well as many from UK too.
There is no Pharma involvement or sponsorship for this event.

For most women, the benefits of taking body identical HRT far outweigh any risks. Yet many are reluctant to take it and many doctors are also reluctant to prescribe it. This is usually due to a false belief that HRT is too risky and causes breast cancer.
I am sharing with you this paper that has recently been published looking at oestrogen-only HRT and breast cancer incidence.
The paper is a meta-analysis, which is a type of statistical analysis where researchers review, combine, and analyse multiple studies together. In this paper, researchers have looked at randomised studies involving oestrogen and breast cancer incidence and put them together to see what the results show.
The conclusion is clear: women who take oestrogen-only HRT have a LOWER future risk of developing breast cancer.
We’ve known for several years that women who take oestrogen have a lower future incidence of breast cancer as well as other cancers and other conditions.
This paper is very reassuring, and it’s worth remembering that any risk of breast cancer has been shown using oestrogen with a combination of a synthetic progestogen, not the body-identical type progesterone healthcare professionals usually prescribe.

So excited to share this paper I am a co-author of with some amazing people including @jayashrikulkar1 and Dr Ceri Cashell from Australia! Everyone should read it
It is entitled “Menopause depression: Under recognised and poorly treated” and published in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry
Mental health symptoms are often experienced during perimenopause and are poorly recognised. This can lead to inadequate treatment of persistent mental ill health, with resultant loss of quality of life, and suicide in the worst situations
As Prof Kulkarni eloquently states:
“Hormone treatment strategy (the right dose and type of HRT often with testosterone) along with other psychosocial interventions can provide the desired outcome but it is rarely offered.
Many women and clinicians are not aware that perimenopause and menopause can have major impacts on mental health
The newer forms of HRT potentially offer better outcomes for both mental health and physical health issues
Critically, it is the woman herself who needs to decide what the risks and benefits are for all treatments, with information from her professional treating teams. To allow this, a change is required in current menopause guidelines, so that future guidelines recommend the use of HRT in the treatment of perimenopausal and menopausal mental health issues
Above all, true innovation is only possible when the woman with lived experience of menopause is front and centre of this debate”

Wonderful review by the inspirational @DrmarkC about our Confidence in the Menopause course which can be accessed by anyone, whether they are a clinician or not. It is essential that more people learn about the perimenopause and menopause in an evidence based way. More information here - https://t.co/knqvcmvqKh
@drlouisenewson This is one of the best educational packages I have seen. It will change your practice for ever and improve your patients lives. Well done Newson Health.
I’m incredibly excited to say our new and improved Confidence in the Menopause education course is now live for everyone to access!
As many of you will be aware, menopause education is so important - it’s what’s going to make menopause care and treatment better for women globally - but unfortunately, it’s massively undervalued, underfunded and under resourced.
Our Confidence in the Menopause course has already been downloaded by more than 30,000 healthcare professionals worldwide since 2021, and I’m so proud to say the new version launched today will have tailored modules available for everyone, whether you work in healthcare or not.
Menopause is everyone’s business, so whether you work in healthcare, you’re going through menopause yourself or know someone who is, this course will allow you to access evidence-based information to help support yourself and others.
There are a number of free to access presentations and, for the more in-depth modules, there is a small subscription fee that will be used to fund further hormone health education and research.
I hope you all find it useful!
