“It is unlikely that I would ever take another passport that means more to me than my #Somali one.
It is important that our leaders #work to improve the quality and standing of our country's #passport, #Somalia’s passport.”
— Omar Arteh
Somalia's Minister of Defense, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, strongly defended international referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan, saying:
"Omar has never had any connection to terrorism. Even the community he comes from rejected and drove out Al-Shabaab. Anyone attempting to associate Omar with the group has only embarrassed themselves and undermined the credibility of the U.S. Embassy that previously granted him a visa. We stand firmly with Omar."
Fiqi emphasized that Somalia fully supports Omar and rejected any allegations linking the respected referee to extremist groups.
