Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2026 S-Class in India, and this time it comes with a first for the model in the country: a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The S 580 e is the only variant on offer.

Under the hood is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 paired with an electric motor, producing a combined 440PS and 680Nm. Mercedes claims a pure electric range of 115km and a fuel efficiency figure of 32.3 kmpl on the PHEV cycle.

Pricing hasn't been announced yet. When it does land, this will be the most performance-forward S-Class available in India since the AMG variants.
