The Dark Side of Swimming airs 8pm on BBC1. Here’s my truth: I battled an ED from self-pressure, saw toxic weigh-ins, shaming, and one County coach was jailed for multiple sexual assault. Now, I coach with care. Safe swimmers can be champions. #BBCPanorama#Swimming#SwimEngland
This would have been great to wake up to this morning @Saracens IF I hadn't bought pitchside tickets ages ago for the family 🤣 Roll on 2 matches and Dizzee!
You've heard of Heated Rivalry, now get ready for two women who recently broke up facing each other in an Olympic gold medal game featuring the absolute best rivalry in sports. The drama.
knock at the door, I answer wearing my fluro Lando top, it’s the amazon delivery driver.. wearing a Max cap.
we look at each other in silence for a few moments.. eventually he says “congratulations”, I say “commiserations.”
he hands me my parcel, starts to walk away..
As a sports coach I really resonate with this. When the other coaches compliment your kids on behaviour and discipline it fills me with pride as much as their good results do!
Love this from @JasonManford ⤵️
A stormy, wind-whipped morning in Stockport for the U12 girls today, and they still played their hearts out.
But the moment that will stay with me wasn’t the goals or the tackles. It was when the opposing coach came over just to talk about my team - not their skills, but their attitude and their kindness.
How they pause mid-match to check on any player who’s gone down.
How they cheer a brilliant save even when it’s the other team’s.
How they take a hit, burst out laughing, and get straight back up.
How they celebrate a goal with joy, never arrogance.
That’s the stuff that makes my chest ache with pride.
Winning is brilliant…but raising girls who lead with kindness, courage, and character?
That’s everything.
That’s girls’ football. ⚽️ 💪🏼
according to psychology people who often talk to themselves build fake scenarios and have full conversations in their heads often assume it’s normal. but in reality, it’s a form of self regulation, away to process emotions when there’s no one who truly understands them. 1/5
BULL. SHIT. I wasn’t eating, drinking, or bothering anyone and still got stung in the neck and the back in the last couple of years. Wasps aren’t misunderstood. They're aggressive little psychos. I stand by it, loud and proud and definitely not anonymously!
Wasps get a bad wrap. There's almost no chance they'll sting you if you don't start swiping it and trying to kill it. Just relax. Yet so many people just freak out like they're 8 years old.
After a ridiculously social week, it's been nice to just literally get the house back together, sit and watch family films (on our 3rd one so far) and do some self pampering hair and face masks etc. Sometimes, it really all is about balance. Crazy v Chill in equal measures.
