New piece from me.
@MacLeodLisa destroyed the Ontario Autism Program, and @ToddSmithPC/@DrFullertonMPP have done little to fix it. Years later, and there still isn’t a functional program

Autistic children w the most barriers are being left behind by the ON Autism Pgm. When their needs exceed the pgm (not hard to do) there aren’t crisis teams, only a few hard to access/geographically limited pgms. Families in this circumstance have very few options. #onpoli#onted
The Ontario Autism Program is far from “world-class.”
It is not working.
@MichaelParsa would do well to actually listen to those who want to help him, like @OntAutism, and actually fix it.
@fordnation - Do something about this.

🧵
Last week @MTaylorNDP rose to ask @fordnation how he could call the current Ontario Autism Program “world class” when so many kids have been waiting years for meaningful help, and there are still so many problems with the program.
@MichaelParsa will offer little hope.

I’d urge @MichaelParsa to read the OAP panel report and tell me where it says that the amount a child receives should be determined by a 4 hour phone call with an employee, who is not a clinician, who has also never met or evaluated the child.
I’ll wait.

The autism program is far from fixed.
Either @MichaelParsa just doesn’t understand that, or refuses to acknowledge it.
The team at @OntAutism would very much like to help the Minister right the ship, but he has to be willing to listen make the necessary changes.

🧵
In QP Tuesday @MTaylorNDP asked @ChildrenON Minister @MichaelParsa where the progress is on the Ontario Autism Program, as we’re nearly 5 years out from when @MacLeodLisa destroyed the old one, and onto the 4th Minister, but so many kids are still waiting for help.

After fiddling with his chair, @MichaelParsa jumps right into talking points 🤦🏻♂️, then takes a page right out the @PaulCalandra book of grandstanding to go off on a tangent about the NDP not fixing the program when the OLP had it. Not very helpful.

Proud to stand with @OntAutism today at Queen's Park. #60kisnotok
