Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK): The Lull Before the Storm

Yesterday, Farooq Abdullah burst out against India after New Delhi's unending humiliation of one of its most abiding lackeys in occupied J&K.

A day earlier, the Crisis Group has also published a detailed report on Kashmir, repeating what Pakistan has long been saying: Kashmir is the oldest unresolved international dispute involving two nuclear-armed nations, and its solution, as per UN Resolutions, remains pending.

The report also highlights that India has tried to engineer peace by cracking down heavily on Kashmiri resistance through collective punishment and by arming the Hindu population in the form of Village Defence Guards (VDGs). Novel means such as demographic engineering through new domicile and land purchase laws, enabling massive inflows of Hindus from the mainland, were also introduced.

However, all is in vain. India has failed to curb resistance or win over Kashmiris despite deploying nearly a million troops. More importantly, the recent Four Day War has reignited the hope of freedom among Kashmiris.

“Seeing Pakistani drones in their skies, hovering above and firing upon Indian installations in the region, seems to have made an impression on local people. The display of Pakistan's military capabilities on the first day of the conflict, when it allegedly shot down several Indian fighter jets, likewise had a notable effect on local public opinion. ‘The May conflict countered post-2019 hopelessness that Pakistan is not interested in Kashmir,’ a Srinagar resident observed.”

Shadab Khan was given out LBW. He appeared resigned to his fate. England’s players began celebrating and shaking hands. But Shadab requested a review.
