The Department of Surgery, #AFMCPune, in association with the #PoonaSurgicalSociety, hosted a CME on Abdominal Wall Reconstructions on 11 Oct 2025. Lt Gen Pankaj P Rao, Dir & Comdt, #AFMC & Col Comdt, #AMC, inaugurated the event, which saw participation of over 200 surgeons and PG trainees. Eminent national faculty led cadaveric workshops, video demonstrations, expert lectures, and interactive panels, showcasing the latest techniques in hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction, reflecting #AFMS commitment to surgical excellence and advanced medical education.

The #RegionalRefresherCourse – Zone 4 of the #AssociationOfSurgeonsOfIndia was successfully conducted from 26–28 Sep 25 at #AFMC Pune under the aegis of the Department of Surgery. Inaugurated by Lt Gen Pankaj P Rao, Director & Commandant, AFMC & Colonel Commandant, AMC, in the presence of senior ASI dignitaries, the event witnessed participation of over 300 postgraduate surgery residents. Eminent national faculty conducted diverse academic and hands-on training sessions, fostering surgical excellence and knowledge exchange.

AFMC & CHSC Pune, hosted a CME on Safe Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy on 5 Oct 2024. Comdt AFMC delivered inaugural address emphasising on safety and complications. Comdt CH(SC) unveiled logo of Dept of GI Surgery, CH (SC) and keynote address was delivered by Dr Kalpesh Jani, President, Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI). Organized under the aegis of AMASI and Poona Surgical Society, the event saw nationally renowned faculty sharing nuances of laparoscopic surgery with over 300 delegates.

[Southern Command INDIAN ARMY @IaSouthern]

Command Hospital and Armed Forces Medical College (#AFMC), Pune, successfully organised a high-impact Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on October 5, 2024, in collaboration with the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (#AMASI) and the Poona Surgical Society. Over 40 renowned surgical experts from across the country shared their expertise with more than 300 attendees, focusing on the latest advancements in laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The CME received widespread praise for its structured format, rich content and seamless execution.

The event was graced by Lt Gen S Thareja, SM, VSM*, Director and Commandant of AFMC, and Dr Kalpesh Jani, President of AMASI, who addressed the gathering. A key highlight was the unveiling of the new logo for the Department of GI Surgery at #CommandHospital, symbolising its commitment to surgical innovation and excellence.

The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Smt Droupadi Murmu #PresidentOfIndia presented the most prestigious President’s Colour to #AFMC, #Pune today. #LtGenDaljitSingh, #DGAFMS and #LtGenNKotwal, Director and Commandant spearheaded the culmination of the monumental saga of the Colour to AFMC. Amidst the impeccable parade led by Brig Muthukrishnan J, the colour was received by Maj Paramjeet Malik on behalf of the college. In a resplendent ceremony held at Maj Devasish Sharma, KC parade ground which was witnessed by the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Ramesh Bais, General Anil Chauhan #CDS, Lt Gen Ajai Kumar Singh, GOC-in-C, #SouthernCommand among other dignitaries.

AFMC, #Pune under the aegis of @dgafms_mod in collaboration with #ISTAC @traumaindia organised a #NationalConference on 'Trauma 2023' from 23-25 Nov 2023. #LtGenNKotwal, Director & Commandant, delivered the inaugural address and impressed upon evolving technological advances and policies in #Trauma & #AcuteCare. Chief guest Prof Probal Neogi, President Elect, #ASI, stressed on the benefits & challenges of building a #Trauma quality system & its role in decision making. The keynote address was delivered by Prof (Dr.) MC Misra, Emeritus Professor, #JPNATC& President ISTAC, #ATLS India Chair (Ex CEO & Director, #AIIMS, NewDelhi). Pre-conference workshops were attended by over 150 #Doctors and #Nurses.
