@maryjbledsoe1@TheRealisticRN Yup. I worked emergency medicine in a busy suburban hospital. Half our ER was turned into an overflow ICU bc so many people were dying of covid. I’ve been an attending 20 years and never signed as many death certificates as I did 20-21.
Someone please give me a poem prompt. An idea. Something. I have five kids and worked a tumultuous ER shift the other day, and somehow...I've got nothing.
@BethanyJarmul@ChestnutReview Congrats! I also had a motherhood poem published by them 2 years ago. It was one of my favorites. I love this poem and it resonates deeply!
@EM_RESUS Er doc for 19 years. 10 years ago, my 21 month old son was a near fatal drowning in full cardiac arrest. I’ve yet to see a patient so cyanotic as he was. I snapped into doc mode and initiated CPR for minutes. He survived without deficits.
@PastorTrey05 https://t.co/l6QqC068r8’d be shocked at how comparatively little I get paid to slog it out in the ER.Getting screamed at, threatened, been hit, spit on.And I keep showing up and quite literally save lives. I don’t control billing & see all comers from rich to unhoused
