TIL that my preschooler didn't know @taylorswift13 is a real person. She is AMAZED that Taylor is on TV (where she's seen music videos) and also alive (and that she poops!). She'd like to meet Taylor, tell her about her big sis, and dance together 🥰 #Swiftie
A 10-year-girl in Delaware picked up “It’s Perfectly Normal” while at the library with her mother. When they came home, she showed her mom the chapter on sexual abuse and said, “This is me.” She was being abused by her father, and it was the first time she’d spoken about it.
I know a lot of you wanted a technical breakdown of this meme so here it is!
I don't think you will find this level of detail anywhere else so keep reading if you don't want to miss out.
As a parent I’m not worried that my 9 and 13 year olds are going to be “indoctrinated” with “wokeness” at school.
I’m not worried that they’re going to ‘feel guilty about their whiteness’ because they’re learning accurate history.
I’m not worried that they’re going to be “groomed” to become furries and to make their pees pees in litter boxes.
Those things aren’t real.
Wanna know what is real?
My worry that they’re going to get shot. That someone with an AR-15 is going to go into their school and shoot them.
So, while the same gun fetishizing, AR-15 lapel pin wearing, locked and loaded family Christmas card posing Republicans fear monger & manufacture crises under the guise of “parents rights”, I say this:
It is my right as a parent to send my kids to school without worrying that they will get shot.
It ain’t the drag queens, the African American history, the books with two moms or two seahorse dads which threaten our kids.
It’s the fucking guns.
@drevvycarter I keep asking myself that! I think I do like the chaos and drama 🫣 even though I also LOVE Tiffany and Brett and was annoyed at the editing that tried to make it look like they were in danger of not getting married 😅 I agree that the S4 final couples seem more stable/happy!
Apparently I missed the first of my SSDI deadlines (filling out my medical history) w/o even realizing I’d formally submitted an app. in the first place.
There was no warning when I filled out the first section that my app was going under review, and I only had 30 days to 1/
Feeling blown away: I had not yet constrained the number of responses on my survey I rolled out yesterday, assuming that it would take awhile to collect data. Instead we went WAY beyond our goal number. 😳
Excited (with a little bit of nerves) to roll our our latest study. If you are the parent of a child who identifies as a gender other than the one assigned at birth, please take our confidential survey (or share it if you know someone who qualifies)!
“Even in 2023, women still face challenges to their authority and success greater than those faced by their male counterparts. Despite these difficulties, women are slowly rising in political, corporate, and educational leadership.”—Dr. Alice Eagly https://t.co/UPkCOXIyRS
The most mom thing I've ever done is write a note to the parents of my then-2-year-old's daycare BFF with my name and number so we could arrange a playdate 😅
(not because he's a cisman and we admire cisman for parenting, but because even though working most of my Saturday away isn't fun, it will be significantly easier 🤣)
I'm working admitted student visit day today - teaching a mini class, trying to knock out a bunch of grading, then holding an "open house" in case any student wants to drop in and ask questions. My partner will be wrangling our energetic 7.5 and 3.5 year olds. He's a star.
