A typical Konyak Naga kitchen hearth, Myanmar 🇲🇲
Kitchens are generally dark with multilayer suspended bamboo shelves to roast/dry/smoke bamboo and meat.
Last night whilst crossing Dartmoor, I camped out beside a cairn on a summit, as people before me have done for hundreds & probably thousands of years on the moor. I watched the sun set, the moon rise, & then set against a backdrop of stars; all without a single building, road or other person in sight.
The right to wild camp on Dartmoor (the only place it is currently legal) is now under threat as a result of litigation brought by a rich local landowner called Alexander Darwall. I think foul scorn that any jumped-up hedge fund manager should think that their money buys them the privilege to end our ancient birth rights & liberties in these lands.
I will be joining the protest outside the Supreme Court in London on 8th October; if you also believe that the stars are for everyone, do consider joining to make your voice heard.
The big publishers are being sued because of their monopoly over scholarly publishing 👀
