Thrilled to hear @MichaelKidd5 has been appointed as Australia’s new Chief Medical Officer from June and excited to have him as our patron for the Australian General Practice Research Foundation which was relaunched last night. https://t.co/r3AyDlGFKW
More than $1b is being spent on setting up urgent care clinics. There's been no evaluation to prove they're providing value for taxpayer dollars, or helping people stay out of hospital. The best solution is funding practices to expand services, including after-hours care. #auspol
More red tape isn't the answer. Age-based health checks look like increasing regulatory burden without clear benefit. Let us focus on instead what we do best - providing high-quality care for patients in communities across Australia. #GP

As I said to @James_Dow1ing urgent care clinics are not the answer. Instead, we need greater investment in preventive care by GPs. This includes higher patient rebates for longer consults, which are particularly important for people with complex chronic conditions. #Medicare
As I told @natassiazc we need expanded and sustained investment in general practice care. The tripling of the bulk-billing incentive for some patient groups is working, let's go further so that no one misses out. Everyone deserves strong access to #GPCare.

Pleased the VIC govt passed a tax bill last week to exempt GPs from payroll tax on bulk billed services. This will help protect bulk billing for Victorians. Qld recently abolished this tax on GPs – this is the best solution - we need national consistency: https://t.co/ePPmzuO2T8
The RACGP is applauding the Queensland Government for abolishing payroll tax on GPs. This is great for Queensland patients. Other states and territories should do the same. GP care is essential and its needs to be affordable and accessible for all Australians.
@RACGPPresident Thanks Michael
For a thoughtful message specially for rural and remote Gp’s and health professionals
I hope have a happy and joyful Christmas
Overall, the @RACGP Practice Owers Conference was a fantastic opportunity for GPs to come together, celebrate their achievements, and inspire one another to continue striving for excellence in their practice. It was a truly wonderful & enriching experience well done all involved
Unfortunately the is no understanding of continuity of care fragmentation is the last thing patient wants it cost a lot of money with worse patient outcomes
A must read. As I told @natassiazc the Scope of Practice review must support the vital role of general practice. We shouldn't trade off quality and safety for convenience. GPs and practice teams keep Australians, and our health system, healthy. #GP

GPs from across Australia have descended on Parliament House with a compelling message. We need increased incentives and subsidised training to boost the GP workforce and ensure no communities anywhere miss out. This must be a priority. #GPsInParliament
I agree but on the other hand general practice is interesting, challenging, and the most effective.
It is life changing and the most rewarding medical profession I wouldn’t do anything else
Australia @RACGP is experiencing exactly the same crisis here.
Sadly, primary care IS HARD.
Managing undifferentiated presentations, leading multidisciplinary teams, handling chronic disease across co-morbidities and offering preventative care is too much for many new graduates
It was a special moment yesterday, with some of Australia’s most revered and respected GPs gathering at the Rose-Hunt lunch to celebrate excellence in general practice.

We just wrapped up the session on payroll tax at the Practice Owners National Conference. In case you missed it, here’s panellist and Vice President Dr Bruce Willett on the key takeaways. #GPPracticeOwner
We had a great session on CPD today. For those who missed it here’s our National Clinic Lead for CPD, Prof David Wilkinson, with RACGP Chair Dr Lara Roeske on how the college is going to help practice owners and managers in delivering CPD in general practices. #GPPracticeOwner
I’m determined to no longer be the “rarity”, a locally trained doctor who was given positive, supported rural placements early in my training that cemented my passion to be a Rural Generalist.
This needs to be the norm, not a rarity @Mark_Butler_MP@RuralDoctorsAus@RACGP@ACRRM
