@stevenxcharles @AlexisKashman Steve you are correct....the more you can get to know your students, the better the understanding you will have of them. It is all about connections especially when you serve the more difficult students.

Q3: Give an example of when you might need to do research on a topic in your classroom. In other words, what situations might arise in the classroom where you need to research how to handle something you weren’t prepared for?

@Mr_Daniel_Trent You are correct...especially if it is a specific learning disability or a student who is emotionally disturbed. You want to make sure you have tools in your belt to support the students.

@mrhuddleston18 Tom its not just about your education and training. I have interviewed a many of folks who had extensive educational backgrounds, but could not relate to students. There are many things you will not know until you have experience in the classroom.

Q2: Why do you think principals ask about how teachers keep up-to-date?

@s_a_underhill Stephanie it is also a way to keep opportunities in front of you in the case you want to advance your career into administration, etc.

@s_a_underhill You are correct! Students and personalities change from year to year. With this in mind you should still have your standard norms and procedures for your classroom and adapt as necessary.

@s_a_underhill Also very important that you have done your research on the school through website. This is one of the best tool for preparing.

@AlexisKashman I agree, but parents also put their trust in us as educators and unfortunately not everyone acts with students best interest in mind. This makes parents lose trust and faith in us.

@MsSarahCoppock There are also websites and online resources you could refer students. Sometimes students need the information presented in various platforms.
