The Dec 2 memo makes this even more absurd. Many Iranian NIW applicants are already living in the U.S. legally, paying taxes, contributing to Social Security, and working in research, medicine, and technology, areas deemed in the U.S. national interest. They’ve already been vetted multiple times by federal agencies. Yet their green cards are now paused simply because of nationality. That’s not about security, it’s about policy inconsistency.

Thousands of Iranian students came to the U.S. legally.

They went through one of the longest and strictest vetting processes of any nationality. They studied here, followed the law, and are now PhD graduates, doctors, engineers, and researchers contributing to American science and innovation.

But now their immigration cases are suddenly stopped.

• OPT for Iranian graduates has been paused, meaning many who just finished their degrees cannot work in the fields they trained for.
• Some were waiting for Employment Authorization Documents, paused.
• Some were waiting for green cards, stalled.
• Others were in the middle of an Adjustment of Status, now frozen.

This pause was supposed to last 90 days to review vetting procedures.

Many are now in limbo.

These are people who followed every rule, built careers here, and are among the highest-tax-paying communities in the U.S.

Punishing the very people who came legally and contribute to American science, medicine, and technology makes no sense.

Iranian immigrants have long contributed to the U.S. economy, especially in STEM, medicine and AI. Most strongly oppose the Islamic regime and support the goal of a strong and secure USA under President Trump and your leadership.

Over the past few months, many have faced serious hardship due to the USCIS hold. They are here legally and often hold advanced degrees. Returning them to Iran would place them in danger and risk sending highly trained experts in strategic fields back to the Iranian regime.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could revisit this decision.

While President Trump’s offer of U.S. support to members of Iran’s women’s soccer team highlighted America’s longstanding commitment to protecting those facing threats from the Islamic Republic, there is another group of highly skilled Iranian nationals in the U.S. who are also in need of consideration and support.
A recent USCIS policy memorandum has paused certain immigration benefits for individuals from 39 countries, including Iran. This pause affects categories such as OPT and OPT extensions, H-1B and H-1B extensions, Adjustment of Status (green card), and Employment Authorization Documents (EAD).
Many Iranian scholars, researchers, engineers, and other professionals currently in the United States came here legally after undergoing rigorous background checks, extensive vetting, and formal visa interviews. They have maintained lawful status and have contributed meaningfully to American universities, research institutions, businesses, and the broader U.S. economy.
I respectfully urge USCIS to reconsider and lift the hold on academic- and employment-based categories such as NIW-EB2, EB-1, H-1B, and OPT for Iranian nationals who have complied fully with U.S. laws and whose safety could be at risk if forced to return under current conditions.

در همین راستا، مسیح علی‌نژاد کاری کرد که خیلی‌ها فکر می‌کردند ممکن نیست. او در چند رسانه پرمخاطب جهانی روبه‌روی زهران ممدانی ایستاد و روایت‌های نادرستی که درباره ایران و این جنگ مطرح میکرد را به چالش کشید.
نتیجه چه شد؟
همان کسی که با اطمینان موضع می‌گرفت حالا مجبور شده توضیح بدهد و از موضع قبلی‌اش عقب بنشیند.
این نشان می‌دهد مسئله فقط جنگ نظامی نیست؛ جنگ روایت‌هاست. هر بار که کسی در همان تریبون‌های جهانی با استدلال و شجاعت وارد شود، می‌تواند روایت غلط را عقب بزند.
به‌جای اینکه این روزها انرژی‌مان را صرف جنگیدن با هم کنیم، بهتر است بفهمیم نبرد اصلی در افکار عمومی جهان است. هر بار که یکی از ما در آن میدان صدای مردم ایران را بلند می‌کند، در واقع یک قدم جلو رفته‌ایم.
