This is already happening where I live in Wilson County as well as Fall-Hamilton Elementary in Metro Nashville. We need it to be standard practice, the positives will be too numerous to count.
This picture makes Memorial Day real. I’ve learned to not take things for granted. I encourage my friends, family and patients to enjoy Memorial Day weekend, and remember those that sacrificed so we can enjoy all of the things we love.
Every Memorial Day, this picture gets me. While some of us are at the beach eating BBQ and burgers...some spend it like this. Her fiancé was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq. Gut check kinda stuff. Monday, please honor our fallen men and women. They’ve earned it...
#MemorialDay
I tweeted earlier about seeing God in the people around me. Well, here you go! I promise this will make your day better. I don’t need either side of the political aisle to tell me what loving one another looks like, I can see for myself.
“God’s address if often at the end of our road.” I believe it. I’ve never seen God in a burning bush or on a mountaintop, but I do see God in other people. I see awesome things people do on a daily basis and it motivates me to let others see God in me.
“Empathy and kindness are essential tools needed for national recovery.” President George W. Bush I agree. I want to be more kind and empathetic. I strive to get outside of myself and help others. I want to do these things in all facets of my life.
I’m always a Tennessean first! It doesn’t get much better than this where I’m from. Thanks to our Tenn National Guard. In the immortal words of my boy @Wes_nship “if this don’t light your fire, your wood’s wet!”
Important content here from my friend @stephenwpatrick Sometimes I feel guilty about how my addiction and treatment gifted me with the ability to process feelings related to my job, it has made me a better doctor and better person. I wish the same for all of my colleagues.
When my son was 9, I went to treatment for opioid use disorder, I thought my life was over. Today, he’s 25 and he asked me to be the best man in his upcoming wedding. I have no words to describe the feeling I have right now. I’m so grateful for the people who helped me.
I have never seen better timing for a book than @geraldposner ‘s Pharma. This book is a long overdue call to action. Thanks to my friend @papergirlmacy for turning me on to it! Pharma is a must read, it should be a part of every medical school curriculum in the U.S.
I am full of gratitude and optimism this morning. Great challenges bring about great opportunity and I have control over my actions and reactions. Our country has always answered the bell despite our differences, this will be no different. Today, I’m bringing love and empathy.
Interesting about NICU census @stephenwpatrick I was thinking about the effect of hand washing, surface disinfecting and social distancing on other viruses and bacteria that make us sick. My theory is that the symptomatic OTC medication market would take a significant hit.
Former Trump economic advisor @Gary_D_Cohn praises the income replacement provisions in the CARES Act, but calls the $300B for direct checks “whipped cream and cherries on top... It’s not stimulative to give you money if there’s no place to go spend it.” https://t.co/lgbrwLreM0
This is what I’m talking about. Be kind, get out side ourselves and help someone else, control what we can control (ourselves and our reactions to things) and we will come out better- guaranteed.
8 years ago today I woke up on the floor of a prison cell...You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending!! There is Hope!! #soberlife#8yearssober
