Excited to share a book chapter co-authored with my colleague @WLangB. Drawing on nearly 20 years of teaching together, we explore how meaningful relationships foster academic risk-taking, rigour, and student success.

Today, teacher candidates explored the power of triangulation! Beyond supporting reliable and fair evaluation, triangulating evidence helps us inquire into our own practice: Are the interventions we implement actually supporting student learning? #TeacherInquiry#TeacherEducation
Another one! I'm so happy to hear the updates. It also reinforces that our @BrockUniversity@brockueducation program's cohort model fosters community and connection that continue after graduation.
One of the best parts of teacher education is getting messages like this. There is something special about watching a teacher candidate youโve taught, mentored, and supported through practicum take that next step into the profession. Congratulations! You earned this! ๐๐

Excited to share that Iโve joined the @EdCanNet National Advisory Council!
Iโm happy for the opportunity to contribute to conversations about the priorities and possibilities shaping education across Canada-and to learn alongside educators and leaders from across the country. ๐จ๐ฆ
2 a.m. wake-up call to present virtually at a symposium in Singapore ๐ธ๐ฌ.
I may have been presenting in the middle of the night from my side of the world, but the thoughtful feedback and engagement made it absolutely worth it. Grateful for the opportunity to share ideas โ๏ธ๐๐ป
Tomorrow begins the 2026โ27 academic year @BrockUniversity These messages from instructors I work with are a wonderful way to begin. โค๏ธ
So much of teaching happens behind the scenesโin the planning, care & collaboration.
Grateful for the people I get to do this work with.
A lovely surprise to see my reflection featured in the @OCT_OEEO newsletter!
Proud to have contributed to the conversation about Ontarioโs refreshed Professional Standards.
Looking forward to seeing how this work continues to take shape across Ontario.

Proud to be one of 24 educators selected from nearly 500 applicants to work with the @OCT_OEEO on the revised Professional Standards and resources to support their implementation.
A meaningful opportunity to contribute to the profession. #OntEd
What happens when teachers let students' questions shape instruction?
Read my latest publication. It explores how inquiry-based teaching fostered agency, curiosity, confidence, , and engagement among reluctant readers in a Grade 10 English classroom.

When was the last time a mistake made you a better teacher?
My article in @ChicagoJournals explores why teachers need the freedom to take risks, reflect, learn, and grow.

Some schools are embracing AI.
Others are returning to pen-and-paper assessments.
The real challenge isn't the technology - it's helping teachers navigate uncertainty.
I discuss this and more on The Smarter Campus Podcast.

Reviewing one of my teacher candidatesโ lesson plans for today and suddenly being transported back to my own Grade 10 science class during the 3-day fetal pig dissection lab.
I donโt remember muchโฆ but I definitely remember the smell. ๐
This year, with the revisions, something interesting happened.
The instructors are now on board!
A reminder that innovation can feel uncomfortable at first; especially when it challenges long-standing assumptions about grading.

Last year, I introduced an #ungrading assignment for our Year 1 teacher candidates (TCs) and here's what happened:
The assignment was incredibly well received by TCs.... ๐งต
Wanting to think more deeply about the concerns being raised, I reached out to @Jessifer
Jesse Stommel, graciously responded with feedback and suggestions.
I was thankful for his guidance and then I took time to revise and strengthen the assignment based on his input.
