i feel like people forget that film is supposed communicate its themes and ideas via visual storytelling, and just cause the writing has a certain intent, does not mean it's reflected in the framing and composition of scenes, aka, u know, the whole point of movies

what sucks more is i think bad open-ended stories get a lot more defense from people cause "oh you see you just dont get the vision" like no bro i think they just fucking fumbled in the writers' room.

sometimes i feel like some series who clearly cannot figure out a proper ending just resort to something extremely open-ended but the execution is always so bad it ends up just erasing everything before it and congrats you now have No Themes or Meanings
