The most resilient and tough patients I've ever seen arriving at the clinic are the mares that have to push through sickness and pain with a foal jumping around them. Bless the broodmares. I can't imagine going through a cold with a baby that depends on me.
Abrazo!
Lampuga was a fighter, dauntless and intimidating. She was born of lightning with fire in her veins. The daughter of Zeewat and Zavaleta was a champion race mare herself, finishing second only to last year's Triple Tiara winner Sabalenka.
Lampuga must be remembered as she was, a champion, a fighter and a serious threat to anyone who dared meet her in the oval.
I can't speak of her character beyond the dirt and the paddock, but I know she fought for her life until the very end. May she Rest In Power.
As a 3yo Lampuga continued to show tenacity in her pursuit of glory, competing in the Triple Tiara and finishing second place in all three races. She wasn't just the "Sham" to Sabalenka's "Secretariat", she was mighty and she pushed the victor in every race they dueled.
