Safety Preparatory Meeting for Capital Repair Held at SMS-II of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant
A safety preparatory meeting was organised at Steel Melting Shop-II (SMS-II) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant on 9th July, 2026 to sensitise contractors and supervisors who are engaged in the capital repair jobs, with the objective of ensuring Zero Harm during the execution of the work.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. M.G. Shrikanth, CGM (SMS-II), in the presence of section heads, the Departmental Safety Officer (DSO) and Assistant Safety Officer (ASO). During the session, participants were briefed on critical safety protocols, hazard identification, risk mitigation measures, adherence to safe work practices, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and the importance of maintaining strict safety discipline throughout the repair activities.
A total of nine proprietors of contractor agencies, along with their supervisors, participated in the programme. The meeting underscored the collective responsibility of management and contractors in fostering a safe work environment and achieving the goal of Zero Harm during the capital repair campaign. Mr. A C Maharana, DSO (SMS-II) coordinated the meeting.
