@sdc_021 @senoradeno @jennyleeshee They're spending less than they did in 2020. In 2023 dollars the 2019-2020 budget was $36.2 B which is more than the $34.7 you claim for this year. That also doesn't address the $16 B repair shortfall, nor the billion $$ + deliberate annual underfunding.

So the TPF claim of 34.7 billion for 2023 (if true) is a defacto cut. Besides, as you saw, the province is making mad bank. It can afford COLA for teachers. #onted

As for the govt not being able to afford it, just look at how much their revenue has increased over the last 10 years. They can fix health care and education, but won't. #onted

As for other sectors, median income over all sectors went up 30% while inflation went up 26% over the last 10 years meaning the average person got a 4% raise. Meanwhile govt. revenues are 34% over inflation. #onted

@jennyleeshee At least ETFO is taking the bull by the horns. My cowardly union ( @OSSTF ) pushed for arbitration and our apperently clueless membership acquiesced. I'm eager to see how the deals will differ. If a 20% pay cut over the last 10 yrs won't motivate us, what will?
