Now that protests are over few points
People need to stop with this: ‘Gen Z’ are some strange entity that world hasn’t known. All generations have been ‘gen z’ of their times. When you have no responsibilities and you are not a provider, that is when you are Gen Z. We have all been there. Emergency/JP movement was Gen Z of their time, Mandal was Gen Z of their time, Nirbhaya, IAC- all these movements are fueled by kids who have nothing to lose. Which is invariably students. There is nothing more courageous or extraordinary about this bunch. When Rajiv Goswami immolated himself in Delhi University, he was Gen Z of his time. That was courage in that era. When students filled jails in JP movement, that was courage in that era. If these movements have taught us anything, it is that protests succeed only in optics. Real change happens in corridors of parliament and govt offices. Slowly, surely and only when it becomes a ballot issue. I challenge CJP to make one aspect of education reform a ballot issue. - Quality of elementary education in govt schools, coaching mafia, reservations - just pick one and make it a ballot issue. Then we will talk about courage.

I’m not at all B’pilled about today. The right thing was done, at last. It starts and end there. I don’t care about the context in which it happened or whom it emboldens. Those are short lived. The right kind of accountability was done. This forces every other minister to go over their ministerial policy making and the secretaries twice or thrice and that’s good for governance overall.
