Rewatching 5.4: The Time Of Angels... this episode is genuinely one of the most perfect examples of a textbook #DoctorWho adventure!
I know we need to look to the future for the show, but Moffat 2.0 could be just what we need. ππ
Check out the awesome teaser trailer for the upcoming Excalibur film, featuring @4SylvesterMcCoy, from our friends over at Secret Planet! ππ https://t.co/R94o56fBtu
@irichards10@PaulCli68311802 The whole lying about the promise of the episode is indeed annoying and frustrating for fans. However, the show going to tender is the exact opposite of "nobody's interested" - it's a clear decision to continue the series and give other production teams a chance to run it! ππ
Too many egos, salty opinions and wild takes are flying around since the BBC announcement regarding the future of #DoctorWho.
It's way more simple than so many of you are making it out to be;
The BBC require a new team to run the show and are ACTIVELY seeking them! ππ
@PaulCli68311802 Youβve created this false narrative, as opposed to looking at practically every other show they tendered that went onto to create new series.
See Also: Casualty. ππ
@Hay58677499Ryan It doesn't need saving - it needs managing.
It's actively out for tender for folks to put offers in. If they don't get any, it's highly likely BBC Studios themselves will run it. ππ
What IF... The Six Doctors (2028)
Starring: Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, Jodie Whittaker & [redacted].
Time is frayed. Reality balances on a knife edge as the newly regenerated Doctor struggles to piece together his past, present & future...
@ChrisWalkerT The BBC can afford to produce it via their BBC Studios arm. They did the same thing with Casualty, and whilst it would be preferential to have a fresh partner, it is likely BBC Studios will win the tender.
All being well, the show will return 2028/2029 at the latest. ππ
@Fat_Wolf Not necessarily; recently they did it with Casualty, and BBC Studios ended up winning it. It's a formality and process that the BBC legally have to go through. ππ
Was joking here, but for anyone confused about the BBC announcement on #DoctorWhoβs future, itβs still very much alive and NOT cancelled, as some folks were suggesting.
The βtenderβ process can take a while, but itβs likely BBC Studios themselves will end up with it. ππ
@nerdfollowing Once the new team is formed, they will likely continue using some of the existing creative team.
The last season averaged 3.1 MILLION viewers per episode.
They CAN afford to make more, but they have a formal process they have to follow and partners will help. ππ
@DarkwingProdigy You're not understanding the situation. This has nothing to do with the BBC "not wanting" it. It's because they DO want it an for the show to have a future, that it's going out for tender.
It's a formal, legal process they have to comply with. ππ
