The fact that 6 7 is a trending game on Playstation more so than Grand Theft Auto tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about the gaming environment today
Kids don't play games anymore
The Black Ops ports have been the top sellers since they launched on PlayStation.
The games are digital, and a lot of people who were trying to boycott PlayStation in over end of physical media bought them.
All it took was some old ports with nostalgia and they already forgot about it. Yeah, PlayStation will push this since people keep buying digital.
This is all but hypothetical, but what if the Playstation 6 also included Steam?
Here me out:
Next Xbox (Helix) goes full Windows-based chaos — messy, open, every store, every launcher. PS6 does the smart, controlled version: a Proton/SteamOS-style compatibility layer that spins up when you launch a Steam game. Not full dual-boot, not full open platform. Just like the Steam Deck but on a big powerful console with Sony's hardware advantages.
Helix becomes the "do whatever you want" box — full Windows underneath, you can sideload stores, launchers, emulators, whatever. It's powerful but janky as hell sometimes, just like current PC gaming.
Playstation 6 stays more "console" at its core. You boot into the normal PS UI for your exclusives and PS Store stuff. When you launch a Steam title, it fires up the compatibility layer (Proton-style or whatever they cook with Valve). Games run in a contained environment. Performance is tuned for the PS6 hardware. Anti-cheat works where it can. Haptics and adaptive triggers map properly because Sony controls the layer.
One deal with Valve is manageable. They get the massive Steam library as a selling point to compete with Xbox's openness. Adding Epic, GOG, etc. would be fragmentation hell and more revenue splits they don't need. Keep it Steam-only like the Deck does. Clean. Controlled. Still feels premium.
- Your big single-player Sony exclusives (the ones they're already protecting and keeping off PC in some cases) run native on the PS6 OS. Perfect optimization, full features, no compatibility layer bullshit.
- Steam games launch through the layer. Most stuff "just works" like on Deck, especially big titles that get Proton support. Might need tweaks, occasional crashes just like on PC, but that's the trade-off.
- You don't have to manage two full operating systems. It's more seamless than current PC + console juggling.
- Mods? Some work through the layer, especially Workshop stuff. Not everything, but way more than a normal console.
- Sales and library? Your entire Steam account is there. Wishlist, refunds, the whole experience.
This setup actually gives Sony a legitimate counter to the next Xbox instead of just getting mogged.
Xbox goes "we're basically a PC now, do whatever."
PS6 goes "we're still a console, but we also have the entire Steam library running great with our controller and our hardware advantages."
It forces Xbox to either match the hybrid play (risky) or lean harder into being the cheap/open option. Meanwhile Sony keeps more control over their own games and OS while still stealing the "I can play everything" crowd.
The Steam Deck proved you can have a locked-down Linux base + Proton layer and make thousands of Windows games feel native on non-Windows hardware. Sony has way more resources and a bigger install base. They could make it even smoother by 2028-2029 when this thing would actually launch.
It wouldn't be perfect. Some games would still have issues (especially heavy anti-cheat or weird launchers). But for 80-90% of the Steam library it'd be solid enough to sell the "you don't need a PC" fantasy.
Sony Playstation gets to challenge Xbox's openness without fully surrendering their walled garden. They protect their exclusives, keep their OS optimized for their games, and still offer the massive Steam library.
Xbox becomes the chaotic open box that is just common with anything Windows OS based.
PS6 becomes the refined hybrid box.
Gamers in the middle win.
@MacReadyGames I was very tempted to buy the limited 5080 that included the blue key card (or was it the yellow one?) To complete the collection, but that would have meant say goodbye to my wallet
Doom has always been hated on:
- Doom 3 because horror focused
- Doom 2016 because of its underrated multi-player
- Doom Eternal because of its artstyle
Doom The Dark Ages because it wasn't Doom Eternal
after a few years of each Doom, people pretend to like the previous one
pouca gente sabe, mas as dançarinas dos clubes do gta são interpretadas por pessoas reais em sessões de motion capture. a rockstar faz isso desde 2004.
>be italy

It's because the internet isn't real:
>boycott sony playstation
>immediately fold when Call of Duty Black Ops 1&2 release digitally on PS5
Nobody that is saying "boycott playstation" is actually boycotting playstation, it's all for clicks and clout
One analyst suggested that even if half a million people cancelled their PlayStation Plus subscription in protest of Sony killing discs, it would be just a drop in the ocean for the company — which is not going to change its mind. https://t.co/fmsom78uUi
>brought backwards compatibility without being cloud based
>option to purchase backwards compatible games - added trophies
>brought ps+ extra/premium game pass type service
>nice ui, audio is superior to Xbox, duelsense functions are amazing
doesnt matter Playstation bad
PlayStation fans won't admit it… 😭
The PS5 generation has been carried more by HYPE than actual unforgettable exclusives. 💀🎮
PS4 era was better.

Red Dead Redemption 2 open world and gameplay really changed everything
But the linear story missions are complete shit, you can't derail a second or you fail
Xbox's PS5-exclusive ports of Call of Duty Black Ops are beating GTA 6 on the trending charts.
It has highlighted the Xbox back compat versions ... which are presently rife with hackers to the point of being unplayable.

We asked Xbox to comment.
Sony’s push for ending physical game discs has nothing to do with “the future”🚀
✅It is about ending second hand market
✅Raising prices on a whim
✅Creating a monopoly
✅Ending game ownership
✅Eventually likely tying you to subscribe
✅Making you buy the same game multiple times when license end and then they suddenly come up with a “remaster”
So if you support cancelling physical games, you are active fighting against your own self interest, because the topic is far bigger than just nostalgia
Don’t let every self-labeled donkey analyst try to convince you otherwise. They are either:
A) Sony’s sock-puppets
B) Don’t want to burn bridges with Sony for future opportunities

I think this female design from id Software is absolute dogshit and intentionally not attractive, but I understand the target audience just wanted to rip and tear with the Slayer and get the classic DOOM experience—which they didn't find in DOOM: The Dark Ages.
Pattern recognition tells me that if this game had been successful, you could guarantee that either the next installment or the one after it would gradually replace the Slayer's protagonism, turning DOOM into a Marvel-style universe where he's just another member of the team and women have more protagonism.
You need to understand they want to erase any male-only protagonist character with weight from existence. The team behind all the AAA games will never let that happens because it goes against DEI basic rules.
The development team was basically dismantled before they could go down that route. You should celebrate the layoffs.
