THREAD: With some discussion today about model booking rates, thought I'd share our approach as producers and how we include residuals in the equation.
Depending on shoot we may do:
1) Pay by hour
2) Trade
3) Equity sharing
4) Cover travel + equity sharing
5) Hybrid
Hotel rates around JFK airport are highway robbery. No choice but to connect w/ an overnight coming from Europe. They provide the free shuttle but ask over $400. It's not like we're loving the stay for anything other than a chance to sleep.
Used points and still feel ripped off.
I haven't bet with these clowns in over three weeks and already had my betting limits reduced ages ago. What's the limit now. A dollar?
Apparently they're even mad I'm getting an edge on them with $20 bets. Talk about a blatant scheme to take action from only problem gamblers.
If we ever did this again it would probably be worth paying the Uber to go further away to knock $100+ off the rate and stay in a decent area. But after a 10+ hour flight and getting through customs at 3 AM central European time wasn't strategizing.
Anyway, we're off the ship and I have to get lost again as D has a session soon. The Parthenon is about 2.5 miles away. Perhaps I'll walk that round trip. God knows I want to get in shape before the big shoot coming up in July.
I sincerely hope the $100 bill I tipped, one of many I fed through machines all week, helps make all the difference. And I hope it's more common that other customers tip similarly than I fear it is.
Overall, what an experience. Never been so taken care of in any environment.

That cruise was so interesting from a cultural standpoint. Staff hospitality was incredible but the contracts they take on are so rigorous. 6-8 months with few days off. Many from countries where the dollar goes very far. Probably an incredible resume builder but such hard work.
Like you know what I don't care if I don't have to tip. I'm tipping, at least something. I didn't get to choose where I was born any more than they did. Absolute least I can do. Our steward is making towels into a heart shape for our anniversary fixing our room twice a day?
