Here to listen/learn, tweet about my kids, food and sports (Go San Diego Wave FC! Go Slugs!)/photos of my dog and join in political and social discourse, he/him
@RedKingRuairi75 I make a salad with smoked trout and I love adding potatoes like these. (Photo before adding the trout from my twins’ birthday dinner (turned 20!) a couple of weeks back)
@Bruce_Jenkins1@FanDuel I went to Paul Westhead basketball camp at Pepperdine when he coached the Lakers. Chick showed up and did improv at by play. Early showtime. Even as a lifelong Bay Area fan and even as a young teen, it was magical.
@Bruce_Jenkins1@FanDuel 100%. (Some folks only remember King from the A’s broadcasts but baseball was too slow for his skills. I loved falling asleep as a kid listening to him broadcasting Warriors games)
One of my great memories of middle school is 10/31/1980 at @tspenceCO’s house, listening to Devo and talking about the Halloween dance we had just left as 7th graders.
Very easy one! Everyone should get it…
This American band formed in 2973 in Akron, OH. ‘Whip It’ was released in 1980 and reached #14 on the Billboard Hot 100.
👉🏻 Name the band.
@MarkL58073@ShakerBall_Cap so I was not signed up to coach. I went to practice and the coach was struggling to throw strikes that the kids could hit. I asked if he wanted me to give it a try. He said ok & I ended up coaching with one for several years (and years after w/others). The boys are almost 28! 2/2
@MarkL58073@ShakerBall_Cap Ha ha. Fortunately for me, I get to watch 2 kids play at the collegiate level and one play professionally but my great nephew lives next door so maybe I’ll get to dust off my coaching skills pretty soon.
Funny enough: when my oldest played coach pitch, we signed him up late 1/
@MarkL58073@ShakerBall_Cap Been a long time since I last coached but when I walk by a park or field and I see a line of kids at SS or behind the tee or waiting to take their shot on goal … I just want to jump out there and help. “Hey, I got this station, coach!”
@ShakerBall_Cap@MarkL58073 And you’ll miss it when it’s over. (Tip: always keep them moving. At the younger ages (at any age really), standing around, waiting for their turn, will make practice tedious. That’s hard if you are the only one but try to make it a goal and hopefully you will get help. Enjoy!)
@mattnahigian The walk from the Ferry Building to the ballpark. Bonus if on a Saturday for the farmers market but not necessary. Lunch or brunch at Greens. Drive over to Berkeley & check out the Rose Garden. Flowers are blooming and, if it’s a clear day, one of the best views of the GG Bridge
@BaseballJeff1 Ouch. Your post hits those of us of a certain age pretty hard. We think of Gary Pettis, the ballplayer, before thinking of him as a football player creator. You hurt us, Jeff. (I like the hire)
@5thDownCFB Went to that game, the 1989 Niner game (moved from the Stick because of the earthquake), lots of stanford games in the late 80s/early 90s and all the World Cup games venued there in 1994. I’d put the high-water mark as the 7/4/94 US v Brazil game but SB XIX is a close second
@historigins The three arc of Cooking with Master Chefs, In Julia’s Kitchen and Baking with Julia are the best run of cooking shows in my lifetime. PBS (KQED in SF for two of them, I think) produced great content and, of course, Julia was the G.O.A.T.
@TheSWPrincess@tiffmc1013@MikeMitchNH@hecubian_devil As a CA voter, you’ve noted my starting point for favoring Becerra. Experience/astute questioning/lucrative investing/being mayor in a city manager city don’t trump Becerra. “Trust me bro” ideas w/o the experience to get things done strike me as vanity projects more than service
