Here’s an in-depth New York Times article on how Trump, his family, and his cronies are abusing their government power to line their pockets and using billions of your tax dollars to facilitate their grifting. Note that the $8.9 billion in federal money going to the 14 Trump and Lutnick companies is equal to the entire amount of federal assistance Western North Carolina has received for Hurricane Helene recovery.
Rampant corruption in plain sight . . . and Republicans see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil.
Here’s an excerpt from the article and a free link to the entire piece:
“Ahead of the deal, the Trump administration approved preliminary applications for as much as $1.6 billion in federal financing for the American company, now called Kaz Resources, which plans to break ground on the project in rural Kazakhstan.
It was not only Mr. Trump and Mr. Lutnick who saw an opportunity.
Their sons were soon doing business with partners in a deal that their fathers were negotiating, continuing a pattern of self-enrichment in the second Trump administration that has few precedents in American history.”
. . . . .
“One or both families have financial ties to at least 14 companies that are actively working with the federal government on critical mining deals, including the Kazakhstan project, according to federal filings examined by The New York Times.
All 14 of these companies have either benefited directly from offers of financial assistance from the Trump administration, or have pending permit applications before the Commerce Department, which Mr. Lutnick oversees, The Times found. The total amount of federal funding that the Trump administration has provided or is considering providing to the companies exceeds $8.9 billion, according to public statements by the companies and federal government.”

I’m convinced that the most underrated trait in a romantic partner is that they bring peace into your life. Days are filled with enough chaos and uncertainty. Being able to come home to someone who defaults to emotional consistency, who creates a peace, is massively underrated.

We know it’s probably hard to believe—especially if you’re in the thick of it—but we have hope that it won’t always be this hard. There will come a day when it’s not always like this. And it’s okay if today was just you making it through.
I don’t get to take a Sunday afternoon nap until after I get home from church and lunch THEN walk an overactive birddog. As miserably hot as it is here, I still love to be out in the trees & to see sights like this. I love these little dudes so much. Look at his velvety horns.
Abuse & neglect hurt & harm us-- but they also knock us out of alignment w/ our true nature. Realistic trauma recovery isn't just about healing wounds, but getting back in touch w/ who we really are & who we were meant to be. Getting back on track w/ our authenticity & destiny.
Mothering and editing are what fill my days, in this season of life. Thankfully the two aren’t that different:
To my authors: show don’t tell
To my toddlers: ask don’t tell
To myself: tell don’t yell
To everyone: use your words
“I run the protection program. I’ll take care of you.”
That’s Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House, talking to a room full of donors today.
The Speaker of the House just talked like a guy guarding a operation that can’t survive daylight. Because that’s exactly what he’s doing. You don’t need a “protection program” for people who did nothing wrong. You need one when you’re afraid of what the books would show.
Congress is supposed to be a check on power, not the muscle protecting it.
Johnson is a total disgrace to the office. November can’t come fast enough.
It'd be nice to have a Speaker who'd say: "And let them, we have nothing to hide, and they'll look like fools for doing it."
But what he's saying here is: They're gonna uncover a lot of stuff, and you don't want that.
Trump’s DOJ quietly removed records showing the FBI conducted multiple interviews with a woman who accused Trump of sexually assaulting her when she was between 13-15 years of age. 😡 #EpsteinTrumpCoverup#ReleaseTheEpsteinFiles https://t.co/IOusLmG9dC
@ABC Religious irony - Texas has mandated reading the Bible in public schools while presently being sued for not allowing Muslims schools to participate in its school voucher program.
@ABC As a practicing Christian whose wife is an Elder in our church, let me say plainly: there is no faster way to push people away from Christ (and his message) faster than forcing them to read Bible passages and White, Christian Nationalism.
Both are increasing at a scary rate.
@ScottPresler Maybe show some proof of voter fraud? It seems virtually non-existent except for in the collective MAGA mind. 60 courts threw out Trump’s calls of voter fraud. What more do you want? If Dems were committing voter fraud, why do we have a majority Republican rule right now?
