@rabois @harryh Trends are much more relevant to the current argument than levels

[David Sinsky @dsinsky]

@rabois @harryh Despite large increases in inequality, American's exhibit no increase in support for redistribution https://t.co/QdCGPp4Cyv

[David Sinsky @dsinsky]

@dbentley If ineq is bad bc it leads to unequal political influence it might take something close to "eliminating" ineq to "fix" the problem

[David Sinsky @dsinsky]

@harryh That's feels more like an arbitrary opinion than a reasoned argument - especially when focused on US, rather than global, equality

[David Sinsky @dsinsky]

@dbentley The difference is its not nearly as obvious what level of inequality the left thinks is ok, or how costly it would be to get there

[David Sinsky @dsinsky]

@harryh I think PG's point is the distribution of "fair shares" is changing & whether ppl get "fair" shares is different than "inequality"

[David Sinsky @dsinsky]

@harryh "everyone needs to participate in the gains, at least a little bit" reads as an argument for focusing on poverty over inequality

[David Sinsky @dsinsky]

Its sad how prevalent the idea: "Americans have a moral right to better job opportunities than foreigners" remains http://t.co/zdf2X01Uqq

[David Sinsky @dsinsky]

@dbentley @harryh @jonshea @krave More importantly, soak-the-rich can't produce $ at the scale needed to address global poverty, growth can
