@BretDevereaux Spice must flow!

@DrEricDing This guy is much more hardcore - he starts by building the oven: https://t.co/RZVeOBGWq4

@incunabula I have a reprint of this hanging on my wall.

[dskrvk @dskrvk]

The thread summarizes my views on the situation. Sadly, the virus has proven “smarter” than the collective humanity.

[tern @1goodtern]

Everyday folk are assuming that their government would be doing something or saying something if Covid were dangerous...

(a big old thread about why everyone assumes someone else would or should be sounding the alarms and what's going on with that)

[dskrvk @dskrvk]

@brightsuit Yeah, that was a bug in their governance module. Hopefully it’ll get fixed before Y2K38.

@sigfpe Here are some examples of weird artist/track/album names: https://t.co/wEnh6jr0IB

@BretDevereaux A “crude but vigorous pump”, hehe

@shit_hn_says Encryption is precious. When everything is encrypted, nothing is.

[dskrvk @dskrvk]

Inspired by https://t.co/hryF95QNQf, which does the necessary work that the original article’s @nytimes editors failed to do.

> Another criticism I’ve heard is that crypto is bad for the environment. Is that true?
Just make sure to recycle the packaging materials from your new mining hardware, and the planet will be fine.

[dskrvk @dskrvk]

@kamilkazani Twitter threads are silly IMO, and these “thread publisher” tools are just trying to reinvent a pentagonal wheel. Why not publish on substack (or a similar platform) and just share the link on twitter?

@johncarlosbaez Seems to be a Russian “tradition” to let a good number of generals die either in the war or right after it: https://t.co/68EcgVFmUm

[Kamil Galeev @kamilkazani]

The longer the war lasts, the less procedural and more personal military power becomes. Soon nobody cares about procedures. Everything is done by personal oral orders. Troops get used to unquestioning obedience to a general's word. So you have to do a cleaning up after each war

@BretDevereaux Not sci-fi, but this is an interesting exploration of how aliens might use numbers (or not): https://t.co/z6HFHC021S

[dskrvk @dskrvk]

@johncarlosbaez They probably use a base that’s a multiple of their number of fingers/tentacles.

@vera_mironov There are very few think tanks shown here, no Israel, and very little money coming from Saudi.
