@CenTexLib If the argument is that Platner was a mistaken young man, you're right. You know who agrees with you? Platner!
It's worse to be a mistaken US Senator whose vote contributes to thousands of mistaken young men and women being sent abroad to fight, kill, and sometimes die.
@CoreyWriting An accidental symbol that no one until a few months ago knew had nazi origins doesn't signify support for nazi policies the way an Israeli flag does, correct.
@bungarsargon This is so stupid. So wrong. So stupid.
If there were any sign that he dislikes Jews, any hint in his thousands of reddit posts over a decade (where he was totally filter off), please inform us.
Otherwise, it seems plausibly an accident, which is why people are forgiving.
@SmelOdiesOG@MegKeene Amy Gertner isn't Jewish?
My mistake. Yes, a lot of people say she is. Also, all the Gertners I know are Jewish. But looks like I was mistaken; thank you for calling me out.
@DerekPederson3 "two-state solution" is opiate for the American masses to give them something to put vague hope in and avoid confronting the reality of apartheid & ethnic cleansing happening in a single state whose ruling party has said they will always control all land from river to sea.
@GuitarsBongos@TPrincato@DerekPederson3 2014: Israel started the war. In fact 2001-2023 were almost constant acts of war from Israel.
1967: Israel started the war.
1948: it only makes sense to say Arabs started it if you don't count all the precipitating violence from proto-Israeli terrorist groups.
@bob_saccamanno I didn't say there wasn't uncertainty. There's always uncertainty. I said Israel attacked. Call it preemptive if you will, but Israel attacked; they weren't attacked.

@mr_tzvi@thecranesbill@BorisBartlog@BriannaWu This is unrelated to what happened. There's a lot of misunderstanding about the 6-day war, so, at the risk of being unnecessarily pedantic, I'll discuss it briefly: In February of 1968, Rabin, the Israeli Chief of Staff said: “I do not believe that Nasser wanted war...

@aziz0nomics@ThatchEffendi@joncoopertweets This is so disingenuous. He's not a nazi. No one believes he's a nazi. You're just lying for internet ridiculousness reasons.
@donpoopencio@davidzweig Also, never said he's a good candidate, although we do have this process called a "primary" which is supposed to determine the best candidate, and he wiped the floor with his opponents. And he's leading Collins in polls while others are trailing Collins.
@donpoopencio@davidzweig You're pretending something is definitely true when in fact it's potentially true. You're pretending that your inference is the only possible interpretation of the reporting, but it's not.
Find reporting that she said GP knew it was a Totenkopf and we have something to discuss.
@hutchinson It's true! Collins probably wins no matter who the Dems put up!
But Dems probably stand a better chance with the dude who's leading her in the polls and actually campaigns than with the woman who's trailing and didn't campaign.
@donpoopencio@davidzweig E.g., if she's reported as saying, "GP told me it was a totenkopf", well maybe that's truth and maybe it's a lie, but that's a very different report from, "I told my friends its a totenkopf."
Jumping from the latter to the former is your inference, not what the reporting said.
@donpoopencio@davidzweig You're free to have your speculation! Your speculation might be right! I'm just saying let's distinguish between what's reported vs what you're inferring (which is one among multiple possible explanations for what's reported).
@donpoopencio@davidzweig She showed the photo to someone who told her what it was.
or
She saw a totenkopf somewhere and realized it looked like that tattoo her ex had.
or
A friend of hers asked "why did your ex have that totenkopf?"
or ...
you can think of other options too, I'm sure.
@ZaidJilani Every accusation is an admission.
"In 1967 we were attacked" --> truth: in 1967, Israel attacked all its neighbors.
"Palestinians use human shields" --> truth: IDF uses Palestinian human shields.
etc.
