@AkivaMCohen Thank you for sharing. I’m one of the reporters who wrote that story. It is a big problem. We found at least 60,000 people per year are trapped in this system, working for free at companies like Walmart, Exxon and Williams and Sonoma, among many others. https://t.co/d8ZVZJ18Bs
@LorenCharnley @sassybibrarian @Jim_Jordan Stats yes but the rest no. And I would never profess to be an expert in those fields. But there are people who specialize in those fields who support mask use.
@Deeneeday @benji4vols @sassybibrarian @Jim_Jordan And the rise of the armchair expert who thinks they know more than people who have trained their entire careers for something.
@chip_126@omegahunter9@Jim_Jordan Correct- I didn’t wear a mask unless the evidence told us we needed to.
Just because I have education in the field doesn’t mean I’m an expert in this particular virus. It does mean that I understand how science works though.
@UniteWhatsRight@TcMafia23@Jim_Jordan And we were dealing with incomplete science. That’s the way science works- you learn over a period of time from many researchers and eventually come to a consensus
@omegahunter9@Jim_Jordan I have a masters degree in public health so have done lots of critical thinking on this topic.
Sometimes less than optimal solutions are what you are stuck with when dealing with a new emergency that is not fully understood and changing rapidly.
@omegahunter9@Jim_Jordan Apparently my sentiment of “I do what the public health experts tell us to do because it’s based on science” was taken a bit too literally 🤷🏻♀️
I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out.
Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed.
In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign.
