@energysmartwv Sorry Nate but parity with existing tech will not move the needle—HPs need to be better than what exists. Rooftop solar took off because it made buying electricity cheaper. HP with heat storage cuts bills and buys down the premium over gas. That’s leveraging market economics!

@JoeTrippi Trump is a symptom. It’s structural. It’s the Electoral College. It’s sanctioned partisan gerrymandering. Its lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court and the flawed process of “advise and consent” nominations. The Constitution needs a refreshment but no viable pathway b/cuz☝️

@drvolts I think I’d want to know if thier system can beat a gas furnace on operating costs. And how much better is their emissions profile? And does their heat pump help reduce peak load or contribute to a steepening duck curve?

@drvolts Makes sense he wouid listen to Gephardt. Gephardt went on to work for Big Coal after he left Congress. Peabody I believe.

@bcshaffer Amen! And not just “some” appliances but especially heat and hot water which account for 2/3 of home energy use. Thermal storage like what @harvest_thermal is doing runs heat pump during the day and releases stored heat into home evenings and mornings when heat demand is high.

Great discussion at Canary Live Bay Area @SenJoshBecker just raised the Elephant in the room: why are we spending billions keeping open dirty fueled power plants that run 15 hours a year when we need more clean flexible demand-side resources?

@DanEspo14 @bentman FWIW, I just replaced 6 windows with Andersen Series E and am quite happy with the value. Hi performers at reasonable cost-$7K for the windows plus installation. There were fairly straightforward inserts in bath and BRM. Large steel framed windows in LR will have to wait.

Among the many gifts being unwrapped over this holiday season, I’ll be celebrating with this @harvest_thermal Pod that will be installed on my ADU. The most efficient heating and hot water system on the market.

We had a pre-meet on Sat with the Harvest Team to go over connections from heat pump to 113 gallon storage tank to manifold that distributes to 5 Pex loops all controlled by the Pod that shifts electric load to midday and releases heat and hot water whenever needed.
