Fun facts from the 2024 election.
Most seats had more people abstain than the winning party had votes and more abstain than the votes against the winning party combined.
Followed by votes against the winning party outweighing votes for the winner.
Leaving only 18 seats that had more votes for the winning party than either against them or abstained.
Of course this drops to ZERO representation when you consider abstaining a vote against.
The party system doesn’t work!
We’re advocating for a new one.

@ZackPolanski Opinions are never a treat to democracy, they are the essence of it.
Refusal to listen to opinions is the threat.
Ideology is the threat.
You are a threat.
Anyone who is a member of a party is a threat.
A glimmer of hope in these words.
Hope that you mean it, hope that you really understand how important it is to let go of what you believe and listen to consensus. Listen to the people you serve, else you don’t serve them and they start serving you.
Ideology has no place in democracy.

These are not pogroms.
Unless you believe the state are funding, organising or supporting it.
It’s all well and good standing against racial hatred but there would be so much less racial hatred if the race the hate is aimed at stopped trying to behead people, force sharia law, rape children etc etc.
What we’re seeing is straw starting to break the camels back while the establishment blame the camel for lashing out.
And shame on the successive governments who ignore the people’s call fo reduced immigration.
Shame on all the politicians who talked the talk but failed to prevent a worsening situation.
Shame on parliament who failed to heed the warnings of 7/7, Manchester Arena, Westminster Bridge and the plague of rape gangs.
Shame on the lot of you, you self aggrandising sycophants!
Are you implying the authorities are allowing or assisting this violence?
The far right are not currently in power and do not control the police so they’d have a hard time organising a pogrom.
This isn’t far right protest. It’s anger.
The people have been complaining about immigration and consistently voting for lower immigration for a long time.
Government has ignored the people.
Terror attack after terror attack people have been urged not to panic. Not to retaliate.
The camels back is breaking and yet you stick dogmatically to your ideology and ignore the cries of the people you are meant to serve.
You call them far right, racist, fascist.
You leave them no other option but to become those things.
They are the product of your own failure to simply listen.
🙄 Good grief.
I’m no fan of Reform but condemnation of violence is kinda the default position. Goes without saying really, and means little from politicians who do.
Nobody wants words from politicians right now.
People are angry because all they get is politicians talking.
We want politicians who listen.
They have not been listening, people are losing patience and resorting to other forms of communication.
Racism.
Like attempting to behead people in the street?
If the government don’t listen to its citizens then can you really blame the people for fighting fire with fire?
It’s a shit situation all round but falling back to the calling people racist rhetoric clearly won’t work. Arguably it’s that shallow simplistic level of thinking that got us here in the first place.
As should the politicians who have ignored concerns of the public.
These flames needed no fanning. The situation was a powder keg ready to blow.
If the government could put their ideology and political correctness aside and do its duty of listening to the people then things would not have escalated so far.
@melanie_ward@LucyMPowell Anyone belonging to a political party is a threat to democracy. None you are capable of listening or compromise. None of you are capable of accepting consensus. This makes you all as dangerous as each other.

What a nonsensical argument!
Do you really think it’s ok to slander people as racist if they’re not just for the sake of catching the occasional racist?
It’s the same logic as racism itself is it not?
Ignorant. Sickening to see this level of stupid from an MP.
You should be ashamed.
Language does change but you don’t get to tell anyone that they change theirs.
Language changes naturally over time and usage. Not by force or will of ideology.
You do not get to choose how I refer to you, especially in a third person context when presumably you are not even within earshot to be offended.
Of course in a face to face where I must refer to you as sir or miss then you do not get to dictate my reality to suit yours.
We will simply have to agree to disagree about your gender. You identify as whatever you like, I will identify you in a manner consistent with my reality, not yours.
The fact that my reality appears to overlap with the majority would suggest my reality is more objective and I can efficiently communicate with others to understand any situation.
Particularly useful for medical professionals who need to understand biological differences to assess risk and diagnose symptoms.
If I (a male) turn up complaining of abdominal pain and have a large belly, they are unlikely to consider that I am pregnant.
Language may change but it has meaning and purpose.
Claiming diversity is strength implies to the native population that they are not good enough.
Claiming an alternative opinion as mere “nonsense” is not a convincing argument and implies you think anyone who might agree with it is stupid. Rather insulting.
As an MP in a supposedly democratic system it’s your duty to listen to your constituents, not to preach to them and call them stupid.
Shining example of how ideological politics and the party structure are incompatible with reasoned debate and democracy.

@KemiBadenoch@BobBlackman If only it were that simple.
The problem is ideology and party based politics. The system itself encourages self righteous arrogance and fails to listen to the public consensus.

🚨 NEWS: UK Government set to force tech companies to restrict phones “for the children”.
It’s likely to mean:
🔴 ID requirement for all devices (or child-locked phone without one)
🔴 government spyware in your pocket (aka client side scanning)
😱

You mean it’s the fight of your livelihoods.
For the common folk it’s just another farce that will ultimately change nothing.
Be it Labour or Reform, we’ll still be governed by ideological dogma.
The illusion of democracy is that we have some (very little) say in choosing our oppressor.
https://t.co/J4FdmuLdqt
Everyone knows who he is. But despite his character flaws he voter base is fed up enough with the establishment they’re willing to try anything.
Maybe you’d be better off listening to the public and improving your policies accordingly.
Rather than sticking to arrogant dogma and playing the same old character assassination tricks.
