Huge win last night vs a scrappy Parker team in our region play!

Cannon was phenomenal guarding the leading scorer in our region (avg 24ppg). He only scored 16 on the night and only 4 with Cannon on him.

Lauer had one of his best games of the season. He owned the post offensively, hit the go ahead free throw and have the game winning block!

Blake Lunt finally looking like a shade of himself after playing the last 3 games very sick last week. He showed that poise and smooth scoring ability and carried stretches of the game offensively.

Overall incredible performances all around and really proud of the fight in this team!

Congrats to 2026 PG @CannonTry12 for being the All Time Assists Leader at ALA West Foothills! Also our first ever 4 year basketball player at the school (school is in year 4 since opening).

The dynamic guard is currently averaging 6.8apg this year and still shaking off some football rust!

AIA, just explain it to me. WHY can’t we get better quality officials in 1a-3a?

The first clip is 5a/6a, and it’s the RIGHT call. No call. Big play by an athlete, expression of emotion, no charge, no block, no tech.

Then we have a 3A game with a CLEAR block or no call, but we are calling a charge because it’s a big strong athlete. And this isn’t an isolated incident. I’m happy to compile an incredibly long compilation of inadequate officiating in VARSITY basketball in 1a-3a.

We’ve had a ref call a timeout because HE was tired. Had refs not make it over half court for 5 changes of possession, make calls from across the full court that are CLEAR wrong calls, refs who don’t know the rules telling players “2 steps is a travel in high school” (yes true story). I’ve been told “you’re not getting that in this town” among other things that are mind blowing.

What is the standard to be certified as a ref by the AIA? Is there a fitness standard? I’m honestly just curious because for $120 a game I expect a WAY better quality than what I’ve seen here the past two seasons.
