Perfect timing for #FossilFriday! A new albertosaurine tyrannosaur! Dubbed Tromerosaurus solumons, it highlights features shared between both albertosaurines and tyrannosaurines. It also coexisted with Daspletosaurus wilsoni. Paper linked below…

Okay, I'd like to apologize. While I still would have liked to see the dual crests, this shot here absolutely sold me on Yangchuanosaurus.
Thank you @BestInSlotYT. You did a much better job showcasing it than Frontier 😂

A reanalysis of a bunch of Archaeopteryx fossils finds that the on-again-off-again Alcmonavis is valid, and Ostromia cannot be placed in Archaeopteryx, but might not be diagnostic enough for a genus name.

A Lost World adaptation where every single creature has to be an animal actually native to Brazil.
That means the "Allosaurus" is an abelisaur, the "Brontosaurus" is a titanosaur, the pterodactyl is a tapejarid, and most importantly, the "ape-men" evolved from New World monkeys.
It will be interesting to see how this holds up, but a new paper is out on #Archaeopteryx. All the #Urvogel specimens indeed belong to that genus, but the #Mühlheim specimen does not, so #Alcmonavis is valid again.

The closure of the Academy museum was NEVER about ticket sales. A petition from the Academy has been up since April this year urging Drexel for financial support. As an affiliate, Drexel is supposed to help fund the museum. Instead, they cut programs and fired staff.
A wild new discovery was just announced. A group of paleontologists have revealed the first published occurrence of Diplodocus in Europe. Late Jurassic NA and Europe had similar fauna but this is still wild. Article below, our Carnegie Dippy pictured…
New paper on #Diplodocoidea diversity through time. The #dicraeosaurids & #diplodocids are found in high latitudes while #rebbachisaurids are found almost from pole to pole, suggesting the former two groups had specific ecological or climatic needs.
