@hockeyhowie_62 Am I reading correctly when he thinks other teams will pop up in the same markets? Like Blackfalds x2? This can’t be a real quote. Haha
@JasonGregor sounds like any individual
Coaching or officiating inside of “rogue” league ie @BCHockeyLeague places a ban on that individual from participating in any @HockeyCanada sanctioned events. They have been forced to choose one or the other. Thoughts on that?
Things I don't understand. @TheAJHL doesn't want the five defecting teams in league anymore. Okay, however, they won't let them play games v. each other unless previously scheduled.
"Out of respect for the players on the five defecting teams, we will allow scheduled games among these clubs to proceed."
Brooks and Sherwood Park have five games, Blackfalds and Okotoks have three and Spruce Grove has zero.
If AJHL doesn't want them in the league, how they can they stop them from scheduling games against each other? How are they allowed to stop kids from playing, yet claim they respect the players? Seems like another power flex out of spite. Hockey Canada, which oversees AJHL, takes harsher action on defecting teams than they do sexual abuse. Priorities seem off.
One thing that has struck me about today's #BCHL / #AJHL announcement.
How bad does Okotoks want into the #BCHL & out of the AJ / Hockey Canada?
Bad enough to give up hosting the Jr. A National Championship nxt yr.
The crown jewel event in the Jr A loop.
That says a lot.
Starting next season five teams; Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park, Brooks, Blackfalds and Okotoks will be merging with BCHL teams.
I’m curious if more join or what the AJHL will do?
At some point Hockey Canada will need to work with these other leagues rather than against them.
I'm hearing that 5 #AJHL teams: the Brooks Bandits, Spruce Grove Saints, Okotoks Oilers, Sherwood Park Crusaders, and Blackfalds Bulldogs have all been accepted into the #BCHL for next season.
