We're hosting a special Antiques Show and Tell event to celebrate a historic moment: the auction of the castle's entire contents in May 1976. Nearly everything—from antique furniture and paintings to everyday items—was sold off. We know many people in the area or their families acquired a piece of this history, and we want to hear their stories!
We're asking people to bring in their unique finds from the auction—whether it's a cherished piece of furniture, fine china, a photo, or even a small keepsake—and share their memories. Our team will be there to document these stories and connect them to the castle's rich past.

150 years ago, the town of Balbriggan went up for auction. A new exhibition for #HeritageWeek2025 from Fingal Local Studies & Archives explores the historic sale of 1875 that became known as ‘The Sale of Balbriggan’. Open at Bremore Castle, Thur 21 - Fri 22 Aug, 10am-4pm.

The first census carried out by the State will be available online next year, Minister for Arts, Culture and Communications Patrick O'Donovan is expected to tell the Cabinet. The 1926 Census website will go live on 18 April 2026.

Now in it's fifth year, the Digging Drumanagh project was designed to fill in knowledge gaps about the site, involve the community and raise awareness of it significance in terms of archaeology, history and ecology. These are the first scientific excavations ever undertaken at the site.

Drumanagh promontory fort is a nationally important archaeological site and is of international significance in terms of Ireland’s relationship with the Roman world. The site consists of a headland of c.46 acres defended by a series of earthworks-three closely-spaced earthen banks and ditches.

TALBOT PAPERS – The archive of the Talbot family is held at the Bodleian Library in Oxford. Fingal Local Studies & Archives bought digital reproductions of several files from the Bodleian which can be viewed by appointment. The reproductions relate to the Malahide Estate and includes estate leases (1772-1862), rentals & accounts (1874-1919), letters from the agent for their Irish estates (1845-1882), correspondence, deeds, maps and plans.
