@sumofchaos@AntonioRamosGP Haha I had to come back to it, I read it, nodded to myself in agreement, scrolled a little further & realised it wasn’t quite right with the bike designation
The RCV was an absolute monster in the 990 era, easily the standout bike on the grid & the bike to have, unless you’re VR
@CraigBr22288103@AntonioRamosGP Satire? Sarcasm? Or genuine take?
Not at Phillip Island… too far to fly them out, Michelin only provided that option to European circuits and it was a benefit all factory teams using Michelin used, Honda, Yamaha, Aprilia & Ducati (before they switched to Bridgestone).
@bikesontnt On air @gavinemmett & @SylvainGuintoli said @McWill99 rode a 400 Aprilia. In 1994 it was a 410, then 420cc, rising to a 460 by 1996. They sat out 1998, returning in 1999 with a 498cc for Harada which was the same bike used by McWilliams in 2000. All twins were allowed to be 105kg
@bgmotogp@Michelin_Sport That was a helluva race, 3 Italians battling it out, looking like a 1-2-3… then Rossi fell going into the final lap, Biaggi attacked Loris, snatched the lead & also fell meaning McWilliams took 3rd on the little Aprilia RSW500 v-twin
The last two years of the 500’s were amazing

19 years ago today, we lost Beryl Swain—a true motorsport pioneer. RIP
In 1962, she became the 1st woman to race solo at the Isle of Man TT on a 50cc Itom. Her grit shook the establishment, prompting an FIM ban on female solo riders that lasted until 1978.
@yazz369 Beautiful. The 400cc segment was insanely good in the late 80’s through the 90’s with brilliant racing too. It took nearly a decade for the 600cc Supersport class to match the equipment spec these little bikes were getting
@yazz369 That’s 1991, they got rid of the yellow number boards for the 1992 season. Though some teams, like Rothmans Honda, kept them
This is Eddie’s 1992 Cagiva
@TotalMotorcycle AGV, OGK, FM, Suomy, Shoei but my go to now is Arai - for my head shape they’re by far the best fit and comfort.
Some pics of them here the years, including a very smashed up Suomy which undoubtedly saved my life.
@yazz369 When AI goes too far and completely changes the person riding the bike, you end up with ridiculous pictures like the one posted
Here’s the original picture with Mick riding the bike
@AntonioRamosGP A shame he didn’t stay with Erv for 1999 on a satellite NSR, with Doohan’s injury he’d have been favourite to take the title that season & possibly take the reigns at HRC with the #1 plate for 2000. Yamaha were still several steps behind
Great talent, possibly the best 250 rider
@AntonioRamosGP Gorgeous
Didn’t often see a Japanese rider on a factory Italian bike, but Harada & Aprilia were a wonderful partnership. He was the only one to give Kato a challenge during the 2001 season too having stepped down from the 500 class.
