Today's emotion coaching CPD reminded me how much I already do right in my practice unintentionally. Sometimes being able to define it helps me to see it and I need to remember that maybe I'm better than I think.

It's harder to identify 3 things this week when I cried at work again but here they are: my English teaching felt better this week; Swimming went much more swimmingly - we weren't as late back; supportive challenge from the Maths lead has me feeling more settled in Year 5. 2/2

I didn't write my 3 things on Friday because I got the train straight after work to Scotland for a long overdue trip to see my best friend and her little family. I'm on the train back and I'm exhausted but so much more refreshed for seeing them (if that even makes sense?!) 1/2

The cold reminds me of days teaching shivering students wearing coats in the classroom. Schools haven't had a chance to stop to process the trauma of Covid and we are now being told it's not an answer or an excuse. How can we ignore the impact on us and our pupils? Madness.

I tried going to school super early today; didn't manage to leave any earlier but I was definitely more productive before school than after. May not be sustainable long term but worth a try

Three positives from this week: Reading Buddies is back - Y5 meeting their new Y1 buddies was just adorable; some of my old Year 6s came to pick up to tell me how well high school is going; I think I've cracked being able to tell the identical twins in my class apart... Mostly 🙈

Something from yesterday that's still bothering me. I was teased and made fun of as a child for being a geek in school, I didn't expect the same to happen from my colleagues now I'm a teacher 😕

I'm going to try a new tradition, to end each week with three positives from school. Here's today's three things: getting to know my class has been an absolute joy; I didn't cry at work once this week; I'm really excited to refine our History curriculum. Not too shabby 😁

I have to keep reminding myself that these are end of Year 4 kids, not end of Year 6 kids. They told me today I talk too fast... I was already trying to talk slow 😅

My TA has COVID and she wants to come to work as she doesn't feel too poorly. Whilst I am relieved she's feeling ok I'm also terrified because I don't know how my lungs will recover if I catch it again. I am very on edge.
