I know an old punk
whose pierced nose
remains hidden
behind the N95 mask
he dutifully wears
and when I ask him
if he still wears it
because his aesthetic
has never cared for norms
he replies that he wears it
because nothing is more punk
than giving a shit
about other people.
@NohaAboelataMD Everyone in my household is high risk and so we've been using mitigating strategies (including HEPA air filtration) since before COVID-19 and, while we have caught colds here and there, we've been COVID-19, flu, and RSV-free (according to testing) so far. Hope we can keep it up!
@exceedhergrasp1 Mine was slightly better, but mostly up salt and water intake, exercise gently, and try heart rate lowering medications. Hadn't heard about compression wear, although seems so obvious in hindsight!
@diarmuidmccoy@Caulimovirus Ha ha ha! Thank you, I hadn't noticed!! (I had a bilateral occipital nerve block this morning and the sheer pain relief knocked me out when I got home. But! I need real sleep not just naps!) Thank you also for the chat and I hope your day and night are lovely ones!
@diarmuidmccoy@Caulimovirus I, on the other hand, have fibromyalgia. And migraines. And occipital neuralgia. And chronic pain. Fortunately I've been doing well on low dose naltrexone. Aside from the absolutely bizarre dreams you get when you start, anyway.
@diarmuidmccoy@Caulimovirus Yeah, I have to be cautious with NSAIDS right now (trying lithium again) and Tylenol only goes so far. If I can only take pain meds for a day or two that would be ideal!
I am jealous of my brother who needed zero pain meds after his hip surgery. He felt great! Bastard. ๐๐
@RichParkerAK@Caulimovirus For the record, there is scientific evidence for all of these things (limited and very specific things for chiropractors and acupuncturists, admittedly, but responsible practitioners are kind of key to all of medicine) and I do support these things being covered by insurance.
@RichParkerAK@Caulimovirus Wow ๐๐๐
Wonder about his opinions on chiropracty, acupuncture, free meals for COVID-19 patients, free rides to doctor appointments, and discounted or free gym memberships. (All things covered by my Medicare Advantage plan last year!)
@diarmuidmccoy@Caulimovirus Although, I'm a non-responder to venlafaxine (but desvenlafaxine should be okay) and codeine and I've now heard both are pretty big red flags for also not responding to tramadol. So I'll definitely be bringing those concerns up!
@diarmuidmccoy@Caulimovirus He said it was okay because it's, quote, the least opioid-like opioid, and I don't hav an allergy, they just make me utterly miserable.
If I had the option to speak with the (or any) anesthesiologist, I would take it in a heartbeat. Where I live, you don't know beforehand.
The gay man who wrote this cover story from 1981 is still alive at 91 years old. Yesterday I talked to him on the phone for 20 minutes. It does give me a tiny bit of comfort, knowing that paper has always been trash.
