O Alto Comissariado da ONU para Direitos Humanos afirmou que Israel não tem o direito de prender o ativista brasileiro Thiago Ávila e pede sua soltura “imediata e incondicional”.

Em uma declaração nesta terça-feira, o porta-voz da entidade das Nações Unidas, Thameen Al-Kheeta, afirmou:

Israel deve libertar imediata e incondicionalmente Saif Abukeshek e Thiago de Avila, membros da Flotilha Global Sumud, detidos em águas internacionais e levados para Israel, onde permanecem detidos sem acusação formal. Não é crime demonstrar solidariedade e tentar levar ajuda humanitária à população palestina em Gaza, que dela necessita urgentemente.
Trata-se da primeira declaração oficial da ONU desde a detenção dos ativistas. O posicionamento ocorre no dia em que a Justiça de Israel decidiu prorrogar por mais seis dias a prisão do brasileiro.
