@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct I grew up in MoCo. Housing prices were always absurdly high. Everything in DMV is overpriced. I don’t see any going up 1000%. My house went up 86% since late 90s. That’s about average. Rental properties do not go up 1000% in that time unless they’re on a gold mine or oil well.
@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct His post was grossly exaggerated. A 1000% increase. No. There may be a few in coastal areas that were finds back in the 90s but his example not even close to being the norm.
@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct Hey hey. We are in agreement. I have participation trophy stories but I never thought that was boomers. I faced it when I ran Little Leagues with Gen X moms. I’m not taking responsibilities for morons in DC.
@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct I was saying his was made up and grossly exaggerated. He was just trying to get people going. He doesn’t even live here. It’s a pattern I see. I know how my house has gone up in price and you didn’t mention that. I never even addressed your figures. I don’t doubt them.
@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct I responded to start that the guy was clickbait and it apparently has worked. I said his figures were grossly exaggerated and that’s why even wrote what I did. I never said times are not tough. Please point me to the multiple examples you refer. I do admit mistakes.
@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct You said I was blatantly wrong on “things” and I can never back up what I say. I was a bit taken back by the false accusation. I have provided plenty.
@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct His figures are ludicrous. Exaggerated. I gave you real time figures on my own house. They match historical housing figures. So I’m not blatantly wrong. I don’t think I act rude to you. If I do, I apologize.
@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct Mortgage Interest rates from 1977-1981 ranges from 8.85% to 16.6%. I’m not acting like prices haven’t gone up. Lots more things to pay for today as well. Times have been bad before.
@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct No one has ever lived on minimum wage. Do we need to pay people more? Yes. How are you going to do that? And we agree. Things were simpler. Blaming a generation who worked hard is weak.
@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct I bought my House for $156K in 1998. 28 years later it is worth about $375K. Not a huge swing but in line with 3-4% a year. My son just bought a house in Durham and his twin sister in Austin. They’re 28. My youngest can’t afford anything.
@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct We didn’t have cell phones, monthly bills, streaming apps, eat out all the time. Things were simpler. Yes pricing is way up. I said one of the issues is private equity buying single family homes. They can’t anymore. Congress finally worked together.
@PitchhPleasee@jeremyct We do not need fake stories to rile people up. Things are so much different. It’s almost not comparable. What we paid for then and now are vastly different. I was paid $5/hour in my first professional job. I had two roommates. We shared groceries. Also depends where you live.
