When HDFCBANK had some tech issues, RBI made them freeze issuing a single card untill the whole tech was re-vamped

But in broking which has rapidly grown to handle lakhs of crores of client funds, brokers work on "best effort basis" because SEBI doesn't have the bandwidth to police them

Given the continuous and tremendous rise in market participation, and the proportional growth in revenue to the government, it's about time there is a body to take exchanges/brokers to task the same way RBI does for banks
