Google is distancing itself from CharacterAI, the Google-funded AI platform now accused in two lawsuits of emotionally and sexually abusing minors and causing real-world violence.
This time last year, CAI was crowned Google Play's "best" AI app of 2023.

@TrulySNSTEAMS i respect your attempts to an honest and open discourse, But i doubt it will reach anywhere with so much hate.
sometimes i wonder if this male hate stops at only cis men or all men, gay straight etc.
anyways good luck with the convos.
Porn is allowed in this platform btw, imagine the increase of exposure to pornography among minors because now they can see stuff from 18+ accounts that once blocked them, masterful gambit sir!
@Kevontay933@shiinareii End goal would be to have some new laws written around these kinds of things, the internet has been fundamentally changed over night.
news laws + technological protections, such as nightshade and some form of generated metadata for unsolicited re uploads / take downs.
@kortizart@engineering I mostly use bluesky/cara these days,
Only reason i even check twitter is for regulator news surrounding creatives.
twitter is kinda done at this point.
@Leetaliel@Velinxi It's a constant cat and mouse game, those tools will be working around the issue, and constantly needing exploitation prevention updates.
Along with technological protection for artists, there's a need for laws, written to prevent this from happening in the first place
@Velinxi A "non-profit"organization collecting massive amounts of user data/work, and setting off all of this is one thing.
But having people who had 0 interest in the creative industry pre-2022, try and explain how your industry works is another thing , just disgusting.
@Velinxi Artists faced a bunch of unresolved issues online , before the whole a/i craze, most people just worked around it because it was somewhat bearable.
I think this is just a wake up call, for fundamental changes on how data is collected and redistributed online.
Having V
@GenelJumalon After watching the clip that got him banned, I though it was just gonna be some small slip-up or something, but holy shit.
just glad people are finally seeing this guy for who he truly is, but yeah e-celebrities will always have their fan base regardless of what they say or do.
@BRAZZERSBOT@ashleylynch also if you like the corridor crew, you're free to do so,
I'm not forcing anyone to dislike their content creators.
Personally i just hold people accountable to their actions when things were at it's worst, not after the public's perception has been shifted 4 years later.
@BRAZZERSBOT@ashleylynch If there were any big names such as content creators outside of the artist circle calling this stuff out for the better half of 2022-2023 feel free to share them.
@BRAZZERSBOT@ashleylynch A lot of people who hated generative ai when it first became popular were other visual artists.
from the better half of 2022 and onward.
I saw all the art station protests and accounts subsequently getting taken down because of it.
I was there to watch all of it-
@BRAZZERSBOT@ashleylynch artist had to beg for 2 years for people to even bat an eye at any information provided , personally im not letting any creator off the hook even if it was just 2 videos, followed by their long string of tweets defending their actions.
@BRAZZERSBOT@ashleylynch Two is all i need, large creators such as corridor crew have such a major influence over their audience , along with other social celebrities , 1 video is enough to fuck over your entire audience, especially when creators could not get a single soul to listen to them-
