Creative projects + experiments designed by local people, supported by @colabdudley • Rewriting stories of who gets to create, imagine and shape culture.
What if… local people designed the cultural strategy for their community?
Welcome to Dudley Creates - a 100 year cultural strategy in action that is being led by local people.

Next time we're going to make a big limpet-inspired mobile celebrating all the ideas that have emerged from Stories of Place ready for the Dudley Creates Winter Gathering. If you care about Dudley and like making things, join us 6-8pm Tuesday 12 Nov ✨✂️🗻 https://t.co/yTzMPHr0YH
It’s autumn harvesting time! 🍁 In the last Stories of Place we foraged learning from the year while keeping our hands busy making, and reflected on how we want Stories of Place to evolve next year 🍄🍄
How might we create a digital archive that lasts for 100 years?
We’re collaborating with community technologists to do this. If you care about Dudley Borough and this sparks your curiosity, we’d love you to get involved.

Next time, as we enter autumn, we will reflect on the year, foraging things we’d like to celebrate, learn from and get ready to store over winter 🍄🍄 Join us 6-8pm Tuesday 1st October https://t.co/BuKwnKjomf
The last Stories of Place was FULL of laughter while we made a giant limpet together that we can explore the world in. The making process alone changed our perspectives on nature, home, space, time and sound. We can’t wait to get adventuring as limpets 🤩🗻
In October we’ll be hosting the first of a series of seasonal sessions of a peer-led learning community for Nature Connected Teams and Organisations

For the next Stories of Place, we’re going to make life-sized limpet shelters! We will use the mobile shelters to help us view and create films about nature from within ✂️ Bring your cardboard recycling and join us for 6-8pm Tuesday 3 September - https://t.co/wCbtnwyl5y
Last Stories of Place, we explored patterns in nature, East African and Dudley values while making paper beads, and prototyped mobile limpet-inspired shelters ✨
Next week, Lorna invites you to find nature patterns + you can explore your own experiment or join Dionne in making paper beads while talking about East African and Dudley values - just sign up for 6-8pm Tuesday 6 August: https://t.co/JdQdnWXNUQ
Last Stories of Place we delved into regenerative processes (where all life flourishes) on Dudley High St for experiment ideas: fabric truths + exchanges, nature folklore, audio histories + play, growing food, youth takeovers + artist residencies in empty spaces ✨
Last week, Dionne invited Stories of Place co-creators to make paper beads while talking about East African values and what values might represent the people of Dudley - we had so much fun creating and talking together!
You are welcome to join us for June’s Stories of Place session in person or online. There are lots of ways you can join in. Just sign up here: https://t.co/NeJ2TW8B9E
On the first Tuesday of every month, curious people come together for Stories of Place: exploring Dudley, imagining flourishing futures, and experimenting with ways to bring us closer to those futures. Join us 6-8pm Tuesday 4 June.
For this month’s Stories of Place making hour optional activity, Dionne invites you to make paper beads while talking about East African values and what values may represent the people of Dudley.
Our monthly Stories of Place meet up on Dudley High Street is back tomorrow. Open to all, free to take part. Take a look if you’re curious: https://t.co/7AhdWtpJTJ
Stories of Place is back 🌱 We sprouted into this year by thinking of our more-than-human kin, inspired by Stitchers in Time’s beautiful embroidery and research. We honoured existing knowledges + imaginings from Dudley before heading into making hour to prototype possible futures
