Tonight we had 400 hot meals logged in along with an additional 100 falafel burgers bringing our total amount oc melas up to 500. Everything was gone within an hour and a half.

This week, RTE got in touch with the Muslim Sisters of Eire as part of their "The Week in Politics" segment which is aired on Sunday morning.

They spoke to our Chair about inflation, how the goverment is tackling the issue, and whether we are seeing an increase in service users and people who are in need of support through vouchers, hampers, or soup runs for their dinner.

Our chair emphasised how inflation rates are influencing every household and individuals from every walk of life are seeing its effects. We are seeing huge amounts of students and working people on Friday evenings due to the rent prices soaring. Unfortunately, they are reaching a point where paying rent means they have no way to feed themselves. Their only option left is seeking support from MSOE and other charities alike.

Not only was there a large amount of children and families tonight, but we could also see the small and slow ripple of this criss affecting old people as they gathered around our table. This was a shocking realisation for us and we are overwhelmed and inundated with demand.

People ask us why we do what we do each week and the answer is why not? Why not help somebody when they are down and struggling? Why not be there for each other and help this world to be a better place?

In the Calais Jungle, I saw refugee organizations received all kinds of useless things like bikinis, Halloween costumes, etc

Sometimes the best thing is to donate money. Organizations can use economies of scale to buy more things and modify what they get to real time needs

In case it needs to be said physical collections for refugees, asylum seekers or homeless people are not where you dump the crap you cleared out of your home. Having sorted donations before the amount of old underwear and damaged clothes, often unwashed, received was shocking

On our walk yesterday several people gave out to me and my housemates. I'm all for making sure people follow the guidelines but when has shouting at people on the street ever been acceptable. You just know we wouldn't have been spoken to like that if we looked older 🙄
