@moving_charlie The industry hard. I could go on. LA cutbacks and the lack of COW's Building Control officers etc. No proper apprenticeships, just mediocre training. The lack of pride in their own work is symptomatic of all the above and causes the issue you raise.

@moving_charlie There's not just 1 reason for the decline in quality in construction generally. But the lack of fully time served tradesman is a big part. The drive for the cheapest product, labour and materials is also a factor. The return of many Eastern European tradesman post brexit as hit
