Middle East Eye revealed that the British government informed ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan that it would not support his return to office. It also rejected his request to present his defense before member states before the vote on his removal, despite objections from his legal team over the procedures being followed.

The British position came after Khan asked London for support to ensure he had a fair opportunity to defend himself. However, the government informed him that it would not back his return to office and refused to hear his defense before the Assembly of States Parties to the ICC convened to vote on his future.

Ultimately, a majority of ICC member states voted in favor of removing Karim Khan from his position.
