@channingwalton SICP is my no. 1, then Algorithmics (Harel & Feldman), Godel, Escher, Bach (Hofstadter), Partial Evaluation and Automatic Program Generation (Jones, Gomard, Sestoft), Introduction to Functional Programming (Bird, Wadler)
@RAC_Care Thanks for replying. I'm the policyholder and I raised a complaint yesterday. They indicated 8 weeks to provide a response. If you're able to encourage the complaints team to take it more seriously that would be a big help - thank you. An apology would be a good start.
@TheRAC_UK it took you 20 hours to attend my wife's breakdown. She was stuck alone in an unheated car at -2 Celsius while repeatedly being misled that somebody was coming. You didn't admit this until 9:45pm, 6 hours after she called you. Nobody was even dispatched until today.
Shocked that mixing industrial chemical waste into fertilizer used to grow food is allowed. And government has ignored this for 6 years. https://t.co/mvgTApEZTD via @CrowdJustice
"Democracy is not a spectator sport. It’s not what governments do. Democracy is what people do." - powerful reminder by Robert Reich in https://t.co/gFluneRzQm
@trussliz@decappeal Excellent start - UK government please step up the match funding again or, even better, make it unlimited. This is still a drop in the ocean. Don't fall behind with sanctions. And stop Russian influence in UK politics.
Here's a good way to help with the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine caused by the Russian invasion.
Disasters Emergency Committee is 15 humanitarian aid charities. UK government will match £20m of donations and UK taxpayers can Gift Aid another 25%. https://t.co/IkUR1yDgrc
MPs on £82,000+ get meal subsidies and in line for £3,000 pay rise but most voted against feeding kids at xmas at time of great hardship. Petition here https://t.co/Xhmr7yqtAp via @38_degrees
BOOM! We’re throwing their exact words back at them. Our UK-wide ad campaign - paid for by you - just launched in Leeds (50/50 in ref). Many more places to follow. We’re turning Brexiteer quotes into tweets & slapping them on billboards. #LedByDonkeys

@DropboxSupport Final point: you emailed "Why this is changing - Newer file systems let us use the latest technology to help keep your files safe and synced in Dropbox." Only one you'll support is ext4, whose *creator* said was obsolete design in 2008: https://t.co/8e5TwBjSc1
@DropboxSupport you're dropping support for Linux unless I stop using filesystem encryption, which I won't. I've paid for a year in advance. How is it right to charge up front for a service and then turn it off? How is it right to force people to disable OS privacy features?
@DropboxSupport Re: installing LUKS, you support it but only up until you decide not to. Which is what's happened with encrypted home folders. By the way, you didn't address my point about breach of contract. I assume it's straightforward to get a refund when you withdraw support like this?
@DropboxSupport Reformatting my disk, reinstalling my OS, restoring my files, reinstalling Dropbox and then having to provide a password before my computer will even boot is such a waste of time I won't do it.
@DropboxSupport@amber_stubbs I doubt many people will want to reformat their disk and - in most cases - reinstall their OS then restore all their files just to keep using Dropbox. Easier to install SyncThing, surely?
@DropboxSupport@PhantomFreak Right now @dropbox supports encrypted home directories but you're going to stop supporting them. But you will support unencrypted. How does this demonstrate commitment to security?
@gandibar How long does email support take to answer, please? It's been 4 days and I've sent 2 reminder emails. Both the domains I'm transferring are stuck in an endless loop of re-entering auth codes and responding to transfer approval emails.
