Silence isn’t neutral.
It’s a choice.
When you see the signs…
When you hear the arguments…
When you know something isn’t right…
And you still do nothing you are not staying out of it.

This is why I am speaking out about the need for change.
I believe Northern Ireland should consider recognising domestic abuse-related suicide and ensuring suspected cases are properly reviewed.
Since 2020 Northern Ireland has carried out Domestic Homicide Reviews when abuse is suspected in a death.
These reviews have helped identify lessons about coercive control and domestic abuse.
But suicides linked to abuse are not always included.
Police statistics show that in the year ending March 2025 there were 6 domestic abuse-related homicides in Northern Ireland, with similar figures in recent years.
But there are no official figures for domestic abuse-related suicides.
In Northern Ireland, however, there is currently no clear framework for recognising or recording suicides where domestic abuse may have been a contributing factor.
This means the true scale of abuse-related deaths may remain unknown.
Across the UK there is growing recognition that prolonged domestic abuse and coercive control can contribute to a victim taking their own life.
Recently in Scotland a man was convicted after his wife died by suicide following sustained abuse.
A heightened expectation surrounded the first day of the inquest into the death of Belfast schoolboy Noah Donohoe, but in the end his mother faced further delays as the slow pace of the justice system dragged on.
Sitting in a Belfast courtroom with around 20 lawyers and an empty public gallery, Fiona Donohoe waited as the day was spent vetting more than 100 potential jurors next door.

@Blevi1989@moneillsf 100% we went for the fight I couldn't have cared who won probably a bit naive on my part but it felt like a supporters club and we were stuck in the middle
@Blevi1989@moneillsf No it shouldn't just disappointed we must have been stuck in that corner because it was all around us... No one should be embarrassed or made to feel like that everyone should have been able to enjoy the atmosphere
