@ftwgd i vote no mercy based on all his past lyrical content. ode to sleep, air catcher, hoty, a lot of the earlier stuff was like of the punish me for my wrongdoings genre
so many of the songs are interpolations of past songs. i wonder if its every song? so far ik drag path has an interpolation of paladin strait, now garbage interpolating hoty, downstairs and korea, the flow in city walls sounds almost identical to the flow in overcompensate
twenty one pilots is fun because you never know if tyler joseph is singing about god, his wife, his kids, his bandmate, his audience, or a secret sixth thing
@certain_thingss@waterinmyhandss yes and it seems like that is truly the only possible way left to escape dema. you can't do it by signing your life away (sai), you can't do it by becoming a vigilante (trench), you cant do it by infiltrating from the outside (clancy). the only escape is breaching from within.
@semicitywalls its almost like he won and lost the battle at the same time. he won by defeating nico, lost by becoming him. won control, lost the fantasy that he really had it. as a metaphor for mental health, we are stuck with our brains but we can make something out of that by accepting it
i might be reading too far into things BUT
blurryface had many car references
this trench lore era has many torch references
MIGHT THERE BE A DEATH NEXT?
@ryesuniversee "but i'm still on fire" vs. "the world around us is burning but we're so cold" i think he's saying there is still some clancy left in him. he is not all blurryface.
